Benjamin LaGuer

edit

A tag has been placed on Benjamin LaGuer, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Linnell 03:52, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks to whoever can help me wikify this entry. Please take a look at the note I just added to the "discussion" part of the entry where I begin to explain the significance of this case. I only have a bit of time to work on it each day, so please bear with me as I expand it. Thanks for your understanding. --Eric Goldscheider 02:54, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:DSC_0073.JPG listed for deletion

edit
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:DSC_0073.JPG has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. feydey 10:55, 14 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes,I noticed those restrictions after I uploaded it. So I didn't post it to the entry page. Go ahead and delete the photo, that's fine. I emailed the photographer to see if he would post it himself and explained that once posted the photo would be in the public domain. If he is cool with that he or I will upload (a properly sized) version again and indicate that it conforms with the wikipedia rules. But for now go ahead and delete the (too big) file I uploaded. Sound good? Eric Goldscheider 16:11, 14 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I removed Benjamin LaGuer as an example of Start-class article. Frankly, it's closer to B. It "has several of the elements described in "start":

  • multiple links that help explain or illustrate the topic
  • a subheading that fully treats an element of the topic
  • multiple subheadings that indicate material that could be added to complete the article"

- in fact it has multiple subheadings that fully treat several elements of the topic. I'd say it has "a majority of the material needed for a completed article." I went back and found what the other examples looked like at the time, and it looks far better than all of the other Start examples. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 14:41, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
