Open Graph Protocol article & copyright donation

edit

Hi, thanks for confirming that user FFA25C is affiliated with the OGP project. I do not know whether anyone in your organization has authorized his/her editing or not, but if it's in your capacity, please ask them to stop.

The content of the article isn't written as neutrally as Wikipedia articles should be (which is understandable since much of the content is copied from the official website). A bigger problem is that the user is resisting attempts to bring attention to the issues, they're telling other users not to edit the article and all attempts to communicate with the user on their talk page have been promptly deleted. Wikipedia has the conflict of interest guideline and article ownership policy to govern these behaviors. I believe that this editor is not working for the best interest of Wikipedia.

I realize that your intention was to clear the copyright issue, but the content copied from OGP's website is not necessarily desirable for Wikipedia. It would best be rewritten by a neutral editor. But if you still want to pursue copyright authorization, you have to follow the Donating copyrighted materials process. -- intgr [talk] 14:03, 12 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Solarra. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made with this edit to Talk:Open Graph Protocol, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ♥ Solarra ♥ ♪ 話 ♪ ߷ ♀ 投稿 ♀ 04:19, 20 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for reverting you so often, but Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. However, there is a way that all the content on the page could be added back in its entirety. If you truly do own or operate (if you only operate from, you need to get permission from the owner before you do this) from http://opengraphprotocol.org/, then you could add or release the copyrighted material under CC-BY-SA 3.0, which will allow us to use the text on Wikipedia with attribution with no copyright problems. (May just be able to add something like 'Content is available under CC-BY-SA 3.0' at the bottom and give a link to the license information, though I'm not an expert at it.) See WP:DONATETEXT for more information. Nonetheless, I'm really sorry about all of it. Tutelary (talk) 04:36, 20 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
