Speedy deletion nomination of Wag's revue

edit

A tag has been placed on Wag's revue, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ttonyb (talk) 06:00, 26 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{hangon}} Excuse me, why is this being deleted?

Proposed deletion of Two dudes and a robot

edit

The article Two dudes and a robot has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

nn-company

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 68.197.16.37 (talk) 00:02, 22 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Two dudes and a robot

edit

A tag has been placed on Two dudes and a robot requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

  • Hi. I only get two Google hits for the term and one is your blog page. Best I can do for you is to create a user subpage with the original text posted to it. If you can find suitable and verifiable third-party coverage, by all means post it to the article. The biggest problem the article faces at present is that lack of notability; performance with a larger and more famous troupe doesn't necessarily establish notability. If you're one of the two dudes, add to that the problem of [[WP:COI|conflict of interest, but that can be overcome as the link will point out.

User:Erochelson/Two Dudes and a Robot

Anyway, thanks for asking and for being nice. I'm glad to help you and please don't hesitate to ask for help. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 06:56, 24 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Sarah Kay Poet.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Sarah Kay Poet.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Articles for deletion nomination of Sarah Kay (poet)

edit

I have nominated Sarah Kay (poet), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sarah Kay (poet). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

How AfDs work

edit

Hi Erochelson. Just thought I'd drop you a friendly note about the AfD nomination of Sarah Kay (poet), in case you're not familiar with the AfD process. What happens is that an article nominated for deletion is then the subject of discussion (open to everyone) for a period of at least 7 days, during which time editors may also improve the article to address the concerns. Typically, editors submit opinions on the AfD page, starting with Keep or Delete, occasionally prefixed by "weak" or "strong", together with their rationale, which should be based on wikipedia policies. At the end of the week, an administrator will look for consensus and take action accordingly. The tag will then be removed, and the article will either remain or be deleted. This morning one editor entered a "Keep" to the discussion on Sarah Kay (poet), and I've added my own.

It's worth mentioning that these are not strictly "votes", (see WP:AFDEQ) and it's the justification and evidence for a response that carries weight, not just the number of people voting either way. In the past, naive editors have occasionally misunderstood the process and have tried creating extra accounts so that they can put in more "votes". This is always obvious and usually counterproductive (ie if the only way to defend an article is to resort to such ridiculous tactics, the article is probably undefendable).

You can see the sort of genuine discussions that go on by browsing a page of AfD discussions like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2010_June_2

Forgive me if you already know how the AfD process works.

Sure Erochelson. Even though I nominated the article for deletion, that's purely business, and I'm happy for your sake and Sarah's that I was proven wrong. Thank you for you contributions, and we hope there will be more to come! Maybe you know more about spoken word poetry and can contribute to articles on that subject. As alwauys, message me if you need help or advice. Herostratus (talk) 05:25, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Sarah kay poet.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 16:26, 7 March 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 16:26, 7 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sarah Kay image

edit

That's a stunning image you've put on the Sarah Kay (poet) article. Can you get copyright clearance for it from the copyright owner before it gets deleted? I hope you can, because it fits so well with the article. — Hebrides (talk) 10:29, 8 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Hebrides - the photo was indeed deleted. I've re-uploaded it, but I'm worried it'll be deleted again. What can I do to prevent this from happening?

Thanks! -erochelson

What is the copyright status of the image? Has the photographer agreed to release it into the public domain, or to license it in a way that satisfies Wikipedia’s stringent requirements? — Hebrides (talk) 23:06, 18 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm speaking with the photographer right now - how can I prove that he wants to release it to the public domain? A quote? -erochelson

License tagging for File:Sarah having fun.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Sarah having fun.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:05, 19 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Starla and Sons

edit

The article Starla and Sons has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable; requires significant coverage in independent reliable sources (not solely university/local newspapers).

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Wikipedical (talk) 06:13, 19 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
