About auld lang syne
Hi! I just checked your message. I understand that some of my parts about the connection between "Auld lang syne" and "Jipy jay" are unclear, but I sincerely believe that the other "international versions" are kind of uncited as well, so I don't understand why my contribution has been deleted. Can you please explain to me what does wikipedia understand as "sources", since the other versions don't have that "original research" issue?. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Juanmaklaot (talk • contribs) 02:19, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Vandal detection
Hey! I saw you've just reverted the article about All Dogs Go to Heaven 2. I reported the vandalism case to another administrator though. Is there a way we can block the vandal user's IP address? I read his/her edit list and it's not his/her first time doing that... Thanks! Gégène (talk) 00:50, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
- You're right, but this is an IP address also used by other people who don't vandalise. I'll request a block if they do it again. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 00:53, 30 January 2013 (UTC)
Brigantes
Etymology chapter is almost out of sources. Addition includes a lot of links, what is equal to the source. If you think there is a need of any more sources, please mark it exactly. Deleting without trying to improve the content is considered to be a heavy vandalism. If Nick won't be cooperative, there is no other way to report vandalism. --Rheton (talk) 21:46, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
eBay
Hello Escape Orbit, Thank you for your advice. The information comes from ebay's help pages and terms and conditions. I have reworded it to be more factual and less opinion based, so hopefully that stays within guidelines. Nothing is made up and all can be verified by checking the ebay pages mentioned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Memollymoo (talk • contribs) 23:07, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Hello! Yes, good call on that last edit. Are you following the discussion at Talk:List_of_Internet_chess_servers? I agree with you there, only notable articles should get listed on that article. OGBranniff (talk) 00:21, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
Tim Gustard
I note that you have visited the Tim Gustard page in the past. It gets constantly vandalised by Filthemill, Rocketrod put it right but Filthemill seems to have some personal vendetta against the artist. As a close associate of the artist I feel it might be better if this continues that the article be deleted altogether, this sort of behaviour is not in the spirit of Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.150.15.212 (talk) 09:46, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Dragonfly Productions
PLEASE READ http://tfgtv.matt-quinn.com/rates.html
PLEASE CROSS CHECK THE FACTS THEREIN - You can use services such as Duedil and the Companies House webcheck service...
Currently, Wikipedia is lending credence to a Fraudster. And you are removing the checkable facts from a page full of lies.
This is NOT disruptive editing. The original post contains serious factual falshood with potential criminal implications. Specifically
1) That this company is located on London - it is NOT - The London address is a mailing service. This is a potentia breachof The Companies Act.
2) That this company created certain programmes it did not and it is an infringement of moral rights under the UK Copyrights, Designs and Patents act 1988 for them to claim otherwise.
3) The company is passing off, attempting to hijack another company's goodwill contrary to The Companies act. 89.241.234.180 (talk) 21:26, 28 February 2013 (UTC)89.241.234.180 (talk) 21:44, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

I am writing to you because you have previously edited a Wikipedia page about the company Dragonfly Productions. That is in fact my company.
I have become aware that am individual has been embarking on a hate campaign and has been posting a lot of negative content online about my company. They have repeatedly vandalised the [dragonfly productions] wikipedia page.
Please can you offer some advise? Can the page be protected from this kind of abuse? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charliesouthall (talk • contribs) 11:51, 3 March 2013 (UTC)
- The page can be protected. Just launch a report at WP:RPP and an Administrator will access your request, although not all requests will succeed. But first, please read WP:PROTECT to learn about the different types of protection before you make a decision. When you edit the page, please note to only insert neutral (unbiased) content, as per WP:NPOV. I hope the above info helps. Cheers and happy editing! Arctic Kangaroo 11:58, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

Susan Boyles net worth
You know what, sod you and your Susan Boyle, I've had enough of OCD people like you, get a life, I done what you asked, but yet, you still moan, look, all I did was go to google, and typed in currency converter, then put I changed it to GBP to USD, then I put in 22000000, and I rounded it to the nearest whole number, then I put the conversion link as a reference, what more do bloody want!! Gosh, I'm only trying to help people who use USD, instead of GBP!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bogey-master (talk • contribs) 14:36, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, so what you're saying is you calculated a dollar figure based on the commercial exchange rates in April 2013, for a figure of net worth calculated in April 2012 in pounds. This is why Wikipedia doesn't permit original synthesis, so it doesn't get filled with inaccurate, wild guesstimates like this. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 15:16, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

27 Club
The page doesn't say that a member has to be on the 27 Club website, which has been inactive for almost 2 years. It says that "The 27 Club is a term used to refer to popular musicians who have died at the age of 27", which Slawek fell into. He was the bassist of a world-touring band, of rather large proportions. He falls into the category of the 27 Club. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Soldiers of Filth (talk • contribs) 17:08, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Herbert (Family Guy)
There has been on-going debates as to what the character's sexual orentation is. The RS to support what Henry said is in the article "Herbert was not originally a pedophile; Henry pitched the idea to the writers of the show, leading to the decision to make him one." but I also added the RS above to support this.
I agree we should just leave it at this, but people keep editing the article and insist he is something else and Henry is wrong. So to make everyone happy that was why I added the other stuff too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyros1972 (talk • contribs) 05:03, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

- That's actually quite insulting and very wrong, HurluGumene. Can you answer the question I asked you at your talk please? Can you also take any further proposed changes to article talk please? At this point you're on extremely thin ice you know. --John (talk) 16:52, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- HurluGumene, I believe you mean well, but you need to understand the distinction between a fan site, and an encyclopaedia article. You should not contribute your own view of a band's recordings and history. You should not fill bands' articles with details that are far better found on their own website (like their future touring schedule and set lists). And you really need to collaborate with other editors, and follow guidelines and policies, (unless you can give good reason not to). You do not own articles. You are not alone in deciding what should be in them. Yes, that means compromising, which is sometimes difficult. But if you could manage to do this you would find your time on Wikipedia far more productive and enjoyable. If you can't manage this, you'll find that everyone's patience only goes so far. Just like Lurulu (talk · contribs) did. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 20:17, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
Buffy edit?
Hi! I'm pretty new to Wikipedia, but I'd like to be someone who helps out more when I can. To help me understand the community better, I'd love if you can help me understand a recent edit you made: I added a note to the Music in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel page based on an interesting chapter I recently read in a scholarly book, adding the source as a footnote. But you deleted it, noting that it was "original research." Just to help me be a better citizen in the future, can you help me see what I did wrong? It didn't look like original research to me, given that I cited a scholarly book chapter--but maybe I was getting too trivial? Not sure. Thanks! Basementwall (talk) 00:29, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Kilt/underwear, STA quoted in Telegraph article of 2010
My revision was correct, in that the director of the STA made this statement in 2010, and the current STA position as expressed on their website is that this is a matter of personal choice: as stated in the previous sentence of this wikipedia article. In fact, I would suggest that whether the quote should be attributed to the director or to the STA doesn't matter - the point is that this quote is of only historic interest since the STA's current position on the subject accords with that expressed in this article. I therefore invite you to remove this sentence and the citation to an outdated newspaper article. Robocon1 (talk) 10:42, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
- See my reply on the talk page. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 21:02, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Please see my reply on the talk page. I don't think that "wished to change what is said by the STA on the subject of wearing underwear" is an accurate representation of what I said in my original message, above, and it turns out that neither the STA nor Brian Wilton said it anyway. My point was that it was outdated and doesn't express the position taken on the STA website currently. It's generally better to rely on original rather than secondary sources, particularly when the secondary source is a three years out of date newspaper article. I therefore repeat my request to you to remove the sentence quoting this erroneous and outdated newspaper article and its citation. Robocon1 (talk) 13:52, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
I noticed my last comment on the talk page was still current. Please see a suggestion I have made there. Robocon1 (talk) 15:55, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
Issues with a User and with an Articles of Deletion page
Assuming you are a moderator, I would like to raise some issues and concerns regarding an AfD I am currently invovled in, as well as a a particular user specifically. First off, I would like to request some kind of admin to try to bring Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Daniel Beckwitt to an end. The arguments seem to be between a number of established accounts arguing delete (myself included) and a large number of anonymous (IPs) arguing keep, one of which should be banned (I'll talk about that later). The page has been kept despite all of that.
Second, there is one user in specific who seems to have demonstrated a clear Conflict of Interest. IP:98.215.9.100 has been arguing to keep the page, as well as previously added the subject, Daniel Beckwitt, to the page (List of computer criminals despite him having questionable notability. IP:98.215.9.100 has also been very vocal and combative on the AfD page, debating with many of the users saying delete. These things combined lead me to believe that IP:98.215.9.100 should be banned from wikipedia, at least for a period of time, and have his comments purged from the AfD since they are all very redundant and (honestly) pretty bad (lots of rhetorical fallacies, blatant attempts to compare X to Y when they have no real connection, FE compaing Daniel Beckwitt to Yves Chaudron claiming that the two cases are identical in notability).
Thanks,

Project Ares
I don't especially care about this page, but having a redirect to Smallville, which doesn't mention Project Ares, is not acceptable. Either the page should be left as it was (I did, in fact, come to it looking for information about the Minecraft server after seeing it on a YouTuber's server list showing over a factor of ten more logged-in users than I'd ever seen on a Minecraft server), or it should be deleted. I don't really care whether it's speedily deleted, or left with a notability tag, but please don't keep reverting it to a nonsense redirect. There is precedent for deleting redirects to articles that do not mention the subject named in the redirected-from page, even when there is some relationship. See for instance Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion#Reverse lottery.
I'm putting it back with the notability tag. If you want to change that to speedy (I would suggest db-a7 -- no assertion of notability, general category), I won't object, but if you revert it to a nonsense redirect again, I'll have to submit it to Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion. Thanks. --dreish~talk 18:21, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Reply on Dreish's talk. Leaving the page as it was would have been returning it to the redirect. Hijacking a page for an entirely different subject, without any discussion, is equally not acceptable. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 19:12, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
Andy Murray
Nothing has changed, the article was wrong to begin with. Are you an SNP member? Murray himself described himself as British today. The consensus on the Talk Page is British. In any case, Nationality isn't a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact - there's no such nationality as Scottish.
Instead of playing judge and jury, why not stick to the facts and pretend this is an encyclopaedia for a minute?
- Describing himself as a British winner does not in anyway change the fact that he has also described himself as Scottish. He can be both. It is not an either/or scenario. Are you even bothering to read past discussion on this topic, or are you going to argue all the same irrelevant points that have been gone though before? Please also don't fall into the trap of assuming that all editors are grinding a political axe. Some of us are here to write an encyclopaedia, and it's good manners to consider that everyone else is too.
- I don't see any consensus for changing this article on the talk page. And as far as Wikipedia is concerned, UK nationals are precisely a matter of opinion. You can regard it as a black and white issue if you wish, but most people are perfectly aware that it's not that straight-forward. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 21:54, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Only a few issues with your post to me.
1. Everything that was attempted to be uploaded onto Wikipedia by myself about Baltinglass GAA club is factually correct, including the explanation of how the motto came into being and its meaning in the context and ethos of the club. 2. The text under History of the club is actually a direct word for word copy of the text contained on the club's copyrighted webpage. 3. Your “update” includes the removal the factually correct information relating to the height of Baltinglass Hill, as well as factually correct information relating to archaeological artifices being housed in the National Museum of Ireland.
So keeping those pieces of information in mind kindly inform Baltinglass GAA club how they can go about removing copyrighted information from Wikipedia, I’m sure you do not need me to provide you with the contact details. National Varieties of English
This is a reply to your comment on my talk page. I did not make an edit related to national varieties of English. The change I made was to correct a grammatical error that is the same everywhere English is spoken. Please check with an English professor in the country of your choice, for clarification. I do not have a dog in this race, my only objective is to improve Wikipedia.Tedd (talk) 17:43, 30 October 2013 (UTC)
- And an English professor would tell me that in accordance to descriptive grammar, if an grammatical error is "everywhere it is spoken" then it is not the speakers who are in the wrong, it is the grammatical "rule". --Escape Orbit (Talk) 21:38, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- The error in that sentence is common, I agree, but it is no more nor less common in one location than another, and so it is absolutely not a question of national usage. You have invoked a Wikipedia guideline in error. If you don't have a better argument, you should let my edit stand.--Tedd (talk) 18:35, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, you are still applying the same mistake that the guideline was written precisely to address. The grammar in the article is correct UK grammar by any measure, and is in agreement with every other similar Wikipedia article on UK bands. If you are not familiar with UK grammar then a good starting point would be to read this article on collective nouns, or perhaps this guide here, or here. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 21:50, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- If you go back to the sentence in question you will see that it is clearly a case where the emphasis of the sentence is on the body of the subject as a whole, not on its individual members. Your references, far from justifying your case, argue against it. Nor is the fact that this mistake is commonly repeated elsewhere in Wikipedia (if true) a valid defense.--Tedd (talk) 05:50, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I have a quick question about a change of mine you reverted. I'm new to wikipedia so perhaps I made a mistake but I'd like to understand exactly what was wrong with the change:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sporran
I made a change which I felt was helpful but it was closed as "Cite does not verify what's written".
The page I sighted is a really useful looking web page that lets you build a dress sporran from its component parts. I added the citation to the end of a paragraph that was talking about all the different components that make up a dress sporran and how variable they are. The link seemed like a helpful citation to help people visualise what was being described.

Any feedback would be helpful.

Sporran
Thanks for the feedback. The reason I thought it would be helpful was because of the 'builder' element allowing people to explore the various components of a sporran. Would you be able to advise on a better way to link that which won't be rejected. I agree the builder could do with more information to aide the learning process which is something I've requested and which is apparently in progress already. Thanks again for your advice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Benjibeaumont (talk • contribs) 13:15, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Three years old message
Well, I'm not sure who I'm talking to, but obviously neither are you!
OK, so I'm a perfectly law-abiding user of Wikipedia, and today I get a 'message' accusing me of vandalising an article I've never read. Apparently I vandlaised it three years ago, so why I get the message today is a mystery to me.
Look. It's dynamic IP addresses that are the problem here. You must surely know that. There was no apology in your message just in case you got the wrong person. Which you did. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.153.21.179 (talk) 20:07, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
- The message was left three years ago, for the right person at the time the vandalism occured. Please read what it says at the bottom of your talk page; "If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users." --Escape Orbit (Talk) 22:03, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
Hello, please tell me what is wrong with my edit (enhancement) of 27 Club? If I understand correctly the "27 Club" means musicians that died at 27 years old and my post follows this rule. Please take it back or explain why it shouldn't be done. Thanks in advance. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=27_Club&oldid=609945040&diff=prev — Preceding unsigned comment added by K.eight.a (talk • contribs) 20:17, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
