Eavesdropper buttin in… I agree that Erickson is probably not notable enough for his own article, but would strongly support moving the miminal info that's there onto the "notable races" page as Katr suggests. I did move Erickson's info to the United States House elections, 2006 notable races#Oregon page. Can we redir to a subsection? And even if we can, I'm not sure it's good policy. There is also this page: Oregon's statewide elections, 2006; maybe I should put the info there as well, then we do the redir it wouldn't be so tedious for someone to find Erickson's info on it. Now I see there is a nav box at the bottom with a link to a page called Oregon United States House elections, 2006 which it looks like neither of you really wanted to deal with and redirected it back. Maybe it wouldn't be so terrible to resurrect that page--we could move the U.S. Congress table from the Oregon's statewide elections, 2006 page, add the notable race section from the United States House elections, 2006 notable races#Oregon page and call it done. Erik Sten

Hey Sprkee, thanks for rounding out the Sten article, and for giving a nod to O-Vanish. I want to point out, though, that - in my opinion - O-Vanish is not a reason to delete a citation, if there is a full citation. With a full citation, it's still pretty easy to find the paper at a brick-and-mortar library, or on the NewsBank web site. My big concern is when people only put the URL, and then it breaks. I know what you mean about free-floating citations, but sometimes I will throw a significant citation on a page without a REF tag just to make sure it's available for future expansion of the article. In this case, that was a front page, two-page overview of Sten's career, which could support significant expansion of the article if somebody wants to do so. I can see that this approach might not be the best way to go about it though, and I'll try to "inline" such citations in the future. Find-an-Old Dead Guy/Gal

Yep thanks for allowing me to waste my day off. I think something ceases to be spam, no matter who created it, if other people are using it extensively. (allmusic.com is commercial, but it's got a template and I've been using it to show that musicians are at least notable enough to be included therein.) There is a Find-A-Grave WikiProject, so I think they'll probably end up keeping it, if someone even bothers to start the deletion process. WPOR Collaboration of the Week

Now, in honor of Labor Day weekend and the outdoor nature of the activities that often accompany the three-day weekend, this week’s item is to de-redlink as many parks from the List of Oregon State Parks. September WPOR Collaboration of the Week

First off, great job to all WikiProject Oregon folks for last week’s List of Oregon State Parks work. We pounded out six new state park articles: Sarah Helmick, Bald Peak, Bob Straub, Sumpter Valley Gold Dredge, Tumalo, and Peter Skene Ogden. Plus numerous other edits to improve the existing articles. As a reward, we are introducing the COTW award {{WPOR COTW award}}, and this time it goes to User:Woodstein52 for starting three of the articles.

Fall WPOR COTW

Welcome to autmun and the weekly COTW news. Great job to those who helped out with last week’s articles: Darlene Hooley & Thunderegg. Both made great improvements. This week, something a little different. With fall upon us, the photo ops are going to be harder to get, so we have a photo request fulfillment drive. Take a look at the requested pictures for Oregon category or the graphics subproject for what’s needed. Then go take a picture, or search online for a free picture to upload (US gov sites are great and there are links available from the above links). If you fill a request, be sure to remove the request template from the article’s talk page. Our other item is another red link removal drive, this time on the flagship Oregon article. Week 1 October WP:ORE COTW

I know everyone has been waiting anxiously for this week’s COTW, so here they are: Barlow Road and Columbia River Plateau. Both are almost Start class, just some formatting and referencing, plus a little expansion and they will be there!

As to last week, it is difficult to track the items we were working on, but I know some pictures were added and at least three red links were removed from Oregon, so thank you to all those who participated. The award winner will be GoodDamon for their creation of the Oregon Forest Resources Institute article. We have now worked through all the Top class stubs and are into the High class stubs. WPOR CoTW: Don Schollander & Conde McCullough

Greetings WPOR world. Last week was great with the Barlow Road seeing lots of improvement, maybe even B class. Columbia River Plateau also saw some improvement, maybe enough to bump it to Start. On with the countdown, another two Stubs in the High category, both happen to be people: Don Schollander a multi-gold medalist; and then world-renowned bridge architect and all-around swell guy Conde McCullough. Schollander needs sources more than anything, and McCullough needs more of a bio, plus maybe a nice chart for the bridges with type/year/location/length. Autzen Stadium

Hey Esprqii, yeah, I was challenging the fact that N-S is the conventional orientation. Is it? Does it matter? Why is it important to list all the other E-W stadia? Thanks for taking an interest in it. I had been ignoring the article, knowing that rabid Duck fans would be doing unspeakable things to it, but now that you're on the job, I decided it was safe to remove that bit about it being gently tucked, like a blending-into-the-landscape jewel, next to the river. BTW, I think I probably shouldn't have spelled out the names of the schools in full, so feel free to change that back. I noticed they are shortened in the sports articles, so I guess that's OK in context. It bugs me though that they assume that when they say "Idaho", the reader is supposed to know that they are referring to the UI and not the state. It could certainly mean someone who has allegiances to both (there is a platypus trophy that used to be awarded to the Civil War winner but then got lost in a closet at Mac Court and was only recently found), but it's also used for someone who lives in Oregon but is neither duck nor beaver.
