edit

Hello, I'm Plantsurfer. I noticed that you recently removed content from Purple Earth hypothesis without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Sorry I don't know if the correct place to respond is here or on your page. I don't really remember the edits, but I remember being annoyed about the evolutionary history section because it was completely uncited and used the phrase "it is possible" at the beginning before launching into an authoritative sounding section. I think I may have looked it up and found it to be not particularly well supported.
The second edit about the green plants and the reflectiveness of chlorophyll was a misinterpretation by me (I thought it was suggesting reflectance rather than lack of absorbance) and I may have been wound up. Your revert on that was correct.
Looking at the article now it still doesn't seem to me that the evolutionary history section is well grounded. Some of it is fine but would need to be presented as more speculative. For instance, the current framing "evolutionary trap did not show up in any of my cursory reading and even to the extent that this is possible, needs to at least be present as merely a possibility, as no sources I found proclaimed any actual evidence, and most offered alternative scenarios. See [1]. I couldn't find anything on the part about symbiogenesis in any sources. I think that the section should either be rewritten or barring that, deleted since it doesn't actually provide any evidence for its claims and seems to present mostly original interpretation.
I do not know how to use wikipedia very well or how to state why I am making edits effectively. Is it all supposed to go in that tiny bar you get when you make a change? Thanks Ethan801 (talk) 23:12, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
