Hello JMHamo -

The SAFELipo addition was recommended to be included under the existing 'Liposuction' page. The section for SAFELipo was included under the techniques section. Thank you!

SPA/COI

edit

Hi Etna-research - looking at your contributions, your account is what we call a "single purpose account" or "SPA". Please read WP:SPA. Because of this, I am providing you with our conflict of interest notice. Please do reply and let us know if you have a relationship or other affiliation with the subject matter that you have been editing about. Thanks.

Hello, Etna-research. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Jytdog- Thank you for alerting me of the stale content/COI notice. I have updated my user talk page with a disclaimer as indicated by Wikipedia's Terms of Use. In all instances, my contributions were NOT contingent upon a form of payment from a client. With regards to my addition of SMARTLipo to the existing Liposuction page, this was an editorial recommendation from the reviewer of the initial page submission. I believe the links and references to be sound and not promotional in nature.

It should be stated first that any edit or contribution made to Wikipedia is done so from a place of genuine interest and made with regard to improving the quality of the content available from Wikipedia.

Through working at length in the medical industry I have accumulated a depth of knowledge on several subjects reflected in my page creation/editing history. Potential sources for Draft:Turning Winds Academic Institute

edit

Here are two sources with very basic info:

  • "School Detail for Turning Winds Academic Institute". Institute of Education Sciences. US Department of Education. Retrieved 8 June 2015.
  • "NATSAP 2014-2015 Directory" (PDF). National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs. p. 166. Retrieved 8 June 2015.

NATSAP appears to contain self-reported information, so only use it for something that can't be gotten directly from TWAI's website.

The history section is arguably the most important for Wikipedia's purposes (anyone who wants to know more about what an organization does now can visit the organization's website). The origins of TWAI are not as simple as the company portrays. John Baisden has a long history in the industry, was investigated repeatedly, charged with multiple crimes, was the defendant in several civil suits, and the plaintiff in at least one other. The basic timeline is as follows:

  • 1993-06-04 Man arrested for murder of Vanessa Baisden
  • 1996-06-02 John Baisden runs Glacier Mountain Expeditions, which takes troubled kids on six-week backpacking trips
  • mid-1990s? John Baisden works at CEDU Family of Services
  • 1999-09-05 John Baisden runs Glacier Mountain, north of Sandpoint, Idaho, which is investigated by the state licensing arm of Family and Community Services and by Bonner County Planning and Zoning
  • 2002-02-23 John Baisden owns Glacier Mountain Educational Services, operates a facility in Cocolalla, Idaho. State Department of Health and Welfare revokes his foster care license. Bonner County files criminal complaint against him for operating facility without a conditional use permit.
  • 2002-03-10 John Baisden investigated by the Idaho Attorney General's office for false advertising, and by the Bonner County prosecutor's office for failure to report a crime (abuse at the school)
  • 2003-10-01 The Baisdens own Family Solutions Network Inc dba Turning Winds, a school on Lake Cocolalla, Idaho
  • 2005-03-17 A student runs away from Turning Winds, an altercation with the Baisdens ensues, Baisdens charged with misdemeanor injury to a child, state later dismisses the charges
  • Turning Winds school moves to Troy, Montana
  • 2007-03-11 John William Baisden Sr., John William Baisden Jr., Carl Spencer Baisden and their spouses sue Bonner County Sheriff's Office alleging malicious prosecution with regard to the 2005 incident
  • 2008-04-15 Turning Winds receives provisional accreditation from NAAS
  • 2011-06 Turning Winds receives NIPSA accreditation

These are some sources you could use and follow up on to build a clear picture of the school's origins:

  • "Importing Troubled Teenagers Behavior Camps Become Big Business in Region". Spokesman Review. 2 June 1996 – via ProQuest. {{cite news}}: Unknown parameter |subscription= ignored (|url-access= suggested) (help)
  • "Troubled Homes Academies for Wayward Youths Have Their Own Problems with Rules". Spokesman Review. 5 September 1999 – via ProQuest. {{cite news}}: Unknown parameter |subscription= ignored (|url-access= suggested) (help)
  • "Outdoor school loses its license ; Bonner County says facility for troubled kids also operating without permit". Spokesman Review. 23 February 2002 – via ProQuest. {{cite news}}: Unknown parameter |subscription= ignored (|url-access= suggested) (help)
  • "Camps for troubled teens face rules; Some outdoors programs; may give false hopes". Spokesman Review. 10 March 2002 – via ProQuest. {{cite news}}: Unknown parameter |subscription= ignored (|url-access= suggested) (help)
  • "Glacier Mountain Academy runs afoul of authorities". Spokesman Review. 10 March 2002 – via ProQuest. {{cite news}}: Unknown parameter |subscription= ignored (|url-access= suggested) (help)
  • "School operators file civil rights lawsuit". Bonner County Daily Bee. 11 March 2007. Archived from the original on 27 May 2009.
  • "Provisional Accreditation for Turning Winds". strugglingteens.com (Press release). Woodbury Reports.
  • "Turning Winds Announces NIPSA Accreditation". strugglingteens.com (Press release). Woodbury Reports.

If you have to slash content to keep the draft from depending too heavily on company sources, this document [1] gives an alternative to the company view of what people should know about a school. Worldbruce (talk) 10:58, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Etna Interactive

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Etna Interactive, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. bonadea contributions talk 19:47, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello Etna805. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Etna805. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Etna805|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. bonadea contributions talk 19:49, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I see higher up on your user talk page that you have already been made aware of the COI and paid editing policies, but as those notices are almost ten years old, you might need the above reminder. Please address this before making any other edits. Thanks! --bonadea contributions talk 19:53, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Etna805, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Etna805|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. bonadea contributions talk 20:15, 27 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
