editWelcome!
Hello, Europabot, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- Tutorial
- How to edit a page and How to develop articles
- How to create your first article (using the Article Wizard if you wish)
- Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}}
before the question. Again, welcome!
I do want to make one comment — you've accidentally run slightly afoul of one of our policies. We don't generally permit usernames that end with "bot" (see below for explanation), so the best idea is to ask for a username change. You can go to Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the instructions, or you can go to my talk page and leave a message (again, see below for explanation) and I'll make the request for you. If you have any questions about editing Wikipedia, just ask me on my talk page.
- "Bot" usernames — in order to perform really boring tasks, we have certain accounts that are "bots", or computer programs instead of humans. They're always supposed to have "bot" at the ends of their usernames, and actual human accounts are never supposed to have it, in order that anyone can tell between a "bot" user and a real human user.
- Talk page messages — go to User talk:Nyttend, click one of the buttons at the top (either "add topic", or "edit", or the plus sign; it depends on how you've customised your preferences), and type your message there. It's just like what you did to type "leave a message" on this page.
Hope this helps; I'll look forward to working with you here at Wikipedia! Nyttend (talk) 11:18, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
- Adding
{{unblock-un|your new username here}}
on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
- Adding
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Jafeluv (talk) 12:20, 15 September 2011 (UTC)Europall11 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I didn't know this was not possible to use -bot in the name, as in "robot". Instead of blocking, perhaps a simple warning would have been better. Please change my username to europa7777 and unblock. Thank you.
Accept reason:
Please follow the instructions above to file a name change request before making other edits. Kuru (talk) 20:04, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
