Quantum Cascade Laser

Are the rate equations the wrong way round? Shouldn't the first one be dn3/dt and the last dn1/dt? Also, I think the rate equation could be specified for a general state as:

${\frac {\mathrm {d} n_{i}}{\mathrm {d} t}}=\sum \limits _{j=1}^{N}{\frac {n_{j}}{\tau _{ji}}}-n_{i}\sum \limits _{j=1}^{N}{\frac {1}{\tau _{ij}}}+I(\delta _{i0}-\delta _{iN})$,

rather than repeating it for each of the three states. If the maths looks dodgy, we can talk it through on Tuesday. - Alex valavanis 01:25, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
