Shaytan-Tay or Shaytan-Tau? Should be renamed
editTay is a misspelling and global in the article. IMHO, it should be Tau (as in Russian spelling and other Turkic languages). Cheers Hanberke (talk) 05:53, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- You are correct. Thanks for the fast spot, I will move it. Every-leaf-that-trembles (talk) 08:41, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

Hello
editI wanted to say that I enjoyed your article Kaluzhskiye Zaseki Nature Reserve. On my way here to leave you a note, I saw your lovely user page as well. Thanks for all your work. Rebbing 03:25, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Rebbing: Thanks, Rebbing! I appreciate the kind words, and the work you did to improve the piece.
I like the fairy picture on your user page. There might be a tie in to the article you edited (about the Kaluzhsky reserve, which is a very ancient forest). A Russian author from the area wrote:
- Sounds like a good habitat for fairies to me. Every-leaf-that-trembles (talk) 17:17, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for sharing; I love that! Kaluzhsky sounds like every fairy's dreamland. Rebbing 18:23, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

DYK for Central Asian riparian woodlands
editOn 21 June 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Central Asian riparian woodlands, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Central Asian riparian woodlands ecoregion features shrubby vegetation known as tugai, which adapts to the region's extremely hot summers and cold winters? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Central Asian riparian woodlands. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Central Asian riparian woodlands), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

editProtected areas and ecoregions
editSince you're involved in both the Protected Areas and Ecoregions wikiprojects, I wondered what you thought of the idea of trying to better connect the two projects. I have been adding lists of protected areas in the ecoregion articles. Would it make sense to add an ecoregion field to the protected areas infobox? If you think it's a good idea, how would we go about doing it?Tom Radulovich (talk) 03:08, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Tom Radulovich:I think it would be a great idea to add the ecoregion to the protected area infobox. A major goal of the protected areas movement is worldwide coverage of a % of representative local ecosystems. A link in the PA infobox would also provide broader context to any given protected area's habitat. I usually add a "climate and ecoregion" section to protected articles anyways. I'm not sure how the diplomacy works between WikiProjects; in this case I suggest we post a proposal on the PA WikiProject talk page, with a ping to one of the template editors (apparently Users Frietjes and Hike395 are active template editors on the PA infobox). If you'd like I could do the post. To make updates automatic, I could create a lookup table of all PA's on the IUCN/WDPA dataset against their ecoregions from the DOPA dataset. That way the infobox template would only need "|show_ecoregion = yes" to display the ecoregion label in full. Every-leaf-that-trembles (talk) 05:10, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
- If would be great if you're willing to propose it. I have written or edited a few protected area articles and added the wikiproject tag to some others, but don't know much about the project. I find that the DOPA listings of protected areas in a given ecoregion aren't always accurate; sometimes protected areas are actually in an adjacent ecoregion. It would be best if an editor confirmed it, or could manually adjist it if its inaccurate. Tom Radulovich (talk) 05:24, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
