Welcome to my talk page. This is where you ask me or tell me anything you have to say. I will obviously make mistakes, which you can point out for me to fix (unless you've fixed it already, ;)) Please as always, respect the talk page guidelines, and sign your posts by typing four tildes (tildes look like these: ~)

On my Homepage (or whatever it's called, forgot) it says you're my "mentor". What does that mean? (see here). It doesn't say anywhere that Berrely is your mentor. What are you referring to?--Bbb23 (talk) 02:50, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Bbb23: I believe they are referring to the Wikipedia:Growth Team features, where a subset of new editors are being matched to someone on the mentor list. It shows up on Special:Homepage (which can be enabled at Special:Preferences). DanCherek (talk) 14:56, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, DanCherek, is there any way for a user (me, for example) to see another user's (Ex-stepp) homepage? --Bbb23 (talk) 15:00, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
My guess is no, since the homepage also prominently displays the email associated with an account. Besides that and the assigned mentor, there is not much else to look at on the homepage, just suggested edits to articles with maintenance tags and pageviews for pages you edited recently. Redaction

edit

  Hi Ex-stepp, I'm TheresNoTime. You'll likely not be pleased about this but I have removed some of your edits because they reveal too much personally identifiable information about you. We have a policy of protecting editors' safety by hiding such information if they share it. I'm really sorry about having to suppress your edits, and I know it's annoying, but it's for the best. Please don't re-add the information. For some useful information on privacy and safety, you can take a look at Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors and Wikipedia:On privacy, confidentiality and discretion. Thank you, and sorry for messing about with your edits! -- TNT (talk • she/they) 03:13, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Oh, whoops. I'm SO sorry, I didn't know about that, and I will try to be more careful. And also, I'm perfectly fine with someone changing up my edits a little bit (although sometimes having an entire edit removed on an article agitates me just a little bit), just let me know if there's anything wrong. I will be happy to receive any notices you have for me! Ex-stepp (talk) 23:22, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Other accounts

edit

Hi Ex-stepp, I'm Sammy - I have a question to ask you, and its very important that you tell the truth.. have you ever had any other accounts on Wikipedia (perhaps one which got blocked a few weeks ago)? -- TNT (talk • she/they) 03:43, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@TheresNoTime: What account are you referring to? – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 09:39, 17 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@TheresNoTime:, as far as I recall, I don't remember having any other accounts (besides my former IP account, but that technically doesn't count, does it?). Why do you ask? And who did get blocked a few weeks ago? I've looked at the block log, and I don't see any recognizable usernames that I know of. This, as far as I remember, is my only registered account. Ex-stepp come chat! 23:21, 16 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sammy, are you there? (It's been four days, just checking) Ex-stepp (talk) 03:13, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Ex-stepp: I'm pretty certain you're Nolimitsnate/WaterflameIsAwesome -- TNT (talk • she/they) 03:20, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Who? Ex-stepp (talk) 03:21, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you'd owned up, we'd have been able to talk about it instead of you just getting blocked. Oh well. -- TNT (talk • she/they) 03:35, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Introducing: the edit summary!

edit

Hi Ex-stepp! Just letting you know that, instead of describing your changes on the talk page, you can describe them in the edit summary. You enter your explanation in the edit summary field at the bottom of the editing window, which looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Once you publish your changes and enter your explanation in the field, voila! The edit summary can be seen along with your edit, and this eliminates the need to explain on the talk page. Happy editing! —GMX🎄(on the go!) 19:30, 20 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Blocked as a sockpuppet

edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abusing multiple accounts as a sockpuppet of User:WaterflameIsAwesome per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/WaterflameIsAwesome. Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  -- TNT (talk • she/they) 03:26, 21 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
