Hi Extra999, I saw your gallery of skylines. But according to the definition at the top of the page (or to others definitions of what a skyline is), is every picture you put into this gallery, a skyline picture? I have serious doubts. The first one, the Hongkong skyline is a clearly one for me, but already the second one the image of Bangkok. For me it is more an overview than a skyline picture. 3rd (Sydney) is clearly one. 4th of NY, is it really a skyline picture? I have serious doubts. And the one of Chicago and Melbourne, I also think this are not skyline pictures.

The same problem that you have with your gallery (or with what I call a problem ;)), has the skyline gallery at Wikimedia Commons.

I came here to the en.wikipedia, because in the de.wikipedia we have the same problem with the definition of skyline and the naming of pictures as skyline of....

How can we solve the problem? :) Best regards --Pilettes (talk) 22:13, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well. I do think that chicago, Melbourne, new york are skylines. Still, I do share your doubts, these are ariel pics, and does not reveal the buildings. To solve that, I cannot say things but we got to remove the pics and post a notice on the talk pages. Waiting for your next response --Extra 999 (Contact me) 16:22, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi, thanks for your response. I started a discussion at the skline gallery at Wikimedia Commons (see the weblink above), feel free to join. The problem is that there is only a very vague definiton of what a skyline is (and I have no idea where to get a good one), but I would like to have a definition first before removing pictures from sites... --Pilettes (talk) 15:46, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
