Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Microdisney--Love Your Enemies.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Microdisney--Love Your Enemies.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 20:21, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
File source problem with File:PSSAYM box.gif
editThanks for uploading File:PSSAYM box.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:22, 19 November 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. dave pape (talk) 04:22, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:PSSAYM CD.gif
editThank you for uploading File:PSSAYM CD.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Skier Dude (talk) 08:41, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- You will need to supply a linkable source and suggest a proper license for the image to be restored. If it's promotional material issued with a CD then it clearly is not "fair use" - and image size does not qualify/disqualify an image from the fair use category. Disambiguation link notification for June 14
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Wooly Bully, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mashup (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

editHello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Staring at the Sun (TV on the Radio song) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
- List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

File copyright problem with File:Cranberries Bury the Hatchet 2LP cover.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Cranberries Bury the Hatchet 2LP cover.jpg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at If 6 Was 9. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.
If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges on that page. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. editThis edit summary is totally unacceptable and near getting a block if you do it again. Also, Discogs isn't really a suitable source for Wikipedia, particularly in areas like WP:SONGCOVER. Simply saying "Artists A, B and C released cover versions" and sourcing it to Discogs does not establish notability. ♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 08:15, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- What establishes notability? I've read WP:SONGCOVER, and I couldn't see more nebulousness if I had a professional telescope. "Reliable sources." According to who? Based on what criteria? Eyevocal (talk) 05:36, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
- Discogs lists everything, but Wikipedia does not. It is a common problem to add obscure cover versions that hardly anyone has heard of, and then say WP:BUTITSTRUE.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:56, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
- Well, now there's also a link to a YouTube video on a channel officially dedicated to the band. Problem solved. Eyevocal (talk) 02:55, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, but these are not secondary sources. I don't want to go round in circles edit warring on this, but the version of Rock and Roll (Gary Glitter song) by Executive Slacks is a good example of a cover version that fails WP:SONGCOVER guidelines.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 08:23, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
- Re-read "What establishes notability?" etc. above. You still haven't helped sort anything out there. As far as I can see, you're just basically saying, "Because I said so." Eyevocal (talk) 06:01, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- That isn't true. WP:SONGCOVER says "Merely appearing in an album track listing, a discography, etc., is not sufficient to show that a cover version is noteworthy; cover songs with only these types of sources should not be added to song articles, either as prose or in a list". Here is what secondary sources have to say about the song:

Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL It is very thin stuff, which is why it isn't suitable for inclusion.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 08:07, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
