editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on FakirNL/common.css requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. In the report above it appears that you still use an older version of WikiFunctions.dll (v 5.3.1.0). This means your installation was imperfect. You need to make a new clean installation of AWB. -- Magioladitis (talk) 19:44, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

putin regime - "mafia state" anachronism
edit[1] hi i want to get more people to discuss the mafia state anachronism so to get some real multi user consensus, what is your opinion and please tell us at the given wikipedia talkpage link Peterzor (talk) 19:00, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- Please note that the only change I made to the article Vladimir Putin was a technical one, I fixed a link from a disambiguation page to the correct page. Please keep that difference in mind. - FakirNL (talk) 20:09, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
The article Peanut soup has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Fails WP:NOTRECIPE
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Gbawden (talk) 09:56, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Medals
editHello.
Regarding your revert of my edit on 2012–13 ISU Speed Skating World Cup. Sure, the athletes win a full medal, as there are no half-gold half-silver medals, but how does it count in the statistics? If you have a shared gold medal, it's obviously less worth than one that's been won outright, as you didn't beat all your competitors; you tied with at least one. Likewise, shared silver and bronze medals are less worth than medals won outright.
In country statistics, countries could, at least theoretically (and depending on sport), manipulate the medal table by letting two (or more) leading competitors of the same nationality share first place, thus obtaining two (or more) gold medals for the country, instead of one gold and one silver.
Do you have a source for the medal table?
Regards
HandsomeFella (talk) 09:32, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Shared medals have always counted the same way as non-shared ones as far as I remember. Maybe you think it's worth less, but that's probably not the deciding factor. I see what you mean by manipulating the medal table but in speed skating that would be incredibly hard to do on purpose! Trying to skate a time of (let's say) exactly 1:45.67(8) is practically impossible. Of course in other sports it might be slightly easier, especially those sports where you set a bar then aim for it and then either pass or fail (pole vault and high jump).
- When you look at 2012 Summer Olympics medal table you'll find two shared silver medals and even a three-way shared bronze medal that are all counted as full. In 302 events a total of 304 silver medals were won. It's not really a source claiming it should be done this way but at least you'll see it's common practice to count shared medals as full ones. I had never seen shared medals counted as half ones before.
- It seems strange that there is no article medal table yet and the most general article about the subject, Olympic medal table doesn't mention shared medals.
- P.S. I have never heard anyone being referred to as "shared Olympic champion" or "shared Nobel Prize winner".
- With kinds regards, - FakirNL (talk) 10:33, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi.
- Yes, of course it would be hard manipulate the result in sports like speed skating (that's why I wrote "theoretically"), but it might occur even without manipulation (which it did here). Would it be fair or correct to count that as two gold (or silver or bronze) medals for the country? I think not. This is more important in the lower parts of the medal table. Let's say that Country 1 only manages to achieve one 1st place and one 2nd place in one sport, and that Country 2 only managed to have 2 athletes sharing 1st place in another sport. In both cases, the countries' athletes had no competitors in front of them, and the rest of the field behind them. Would it be fair to say then that Country 1 took 1 gold and 1 silver medal, while Country 2 took 2 gold medals, just because the athletes of Country 2 happened to have the same result? In relation to the rest of the field, the countries' performances were identical.
- In the case of the ISU World Cup, the prize money for shared places "will be the average amounts for the applicable ranking positions", i.e. two winners divide the sum of the prize money for the first two places evenly between themselves (according to the source, page 10), so it's perfectly plausible thath they think of medals the same way. That's why I asked if you had any source for the medal table. I haven't been able to locate one.
- One might not say "shared Olympic champion" (or Nobel Prize winner), but one can definitely say "joint Olympic champion".
- HandsomeFella (talk) 13:15, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- Try googling "joint Olympic champion", I hardly get any results. The prize money for shared places might be averaged, but maybe that's just because of monetary constraints? And your argument is easily countered by noting that in case of a tie both skaters get full points and a full physical medal (and isn't this last thing what really counts?). Whether you or I think it's fair is totally not relevant. I think jury sports are unfair but that doesn't change the way the ISU or IOC see them.
- In my home Wiki, the Dutch version, there is a page called Wikipedia:Sports Cafe that is used as the village pump for sports related discussions. Do you know of such a place here on the English Wikipedia? Might be interesting to have some more opinions about this subject. - FakirNL (talk) 13:33, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, the points might indicate otherwise. When it comes to the physical medal, that might be explained by the fact that it would probably be a little weird with half-gold half-silver medals. It would also be hard to make plans for how many that would need to be manufactured.
- Cheers. HandsomeFella (talk) 13:55, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

World Cup 1
editHello Fakir.
Thanks for the fixes and corrections you've made to the 2013–14 ISU Speed Skating World Cup.
The World Cup commences next weekend, with World Cup 1 in Calgary. Due to an upcoming family occasion, also the next weekend, I might not be able to keep the articles up to date resultwise. I assume you will update the articles in the Dutch wiki. Would you also be able to help out in the English ones, if you notice that I'm unable to find time for it?
Thanks in advance.

My reaction
editAll that happened was that I discovered that the page ELINCS was covering two distinct subjects, which pages shouldn't do. So I split those off and created a disambiguation page on ELINCS. And yes I moved the content, mentioning this in the edit summary, but I did not create the unsourced and ambiguous content, and frankly, I don't care about it either. - FakirNL (talk) 10:27, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

- @Holger1959: I tagged it for deletion as it was a hoax, an article about a non-existent village. FakirNL (talk) 14:01, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
Speed skating
editHello, FakirNL.
Thanks for correcting my errors in the 2014-15 speed skating world cup articles. But I wish you could tone down your edit summaries a bit.
- What was the previous schedule even based on? (repeated 3 times)
- Bro, did you even look at the source?
isn't exactly comments that make one feel encouraged. It might be that the comments were not intended as snotty (in fact, I assume that they weren't), but it still didn't feel right.
I try to do my best, but errors are almost inevitable. Hopefully, they are detected soon, by me, or you, or someone else.
Thanks for your understanding.
HandsomeFella (talk) 15:11, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Well, the point I was trying to make was that I found it very strange that you already written down the schedule before it was released and the schedule you it turned out to be very wrong. Per Wikipedia:Verifiability I'd say it would be better to wait until the official press release before creating new pages, templates etc. Better to wait a week than to write down wrong information. - FakirNL (talk) 15:38, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- It doesn't explain the last remark.
- Besides, there was a document (communication no 1888) on 1 August that doesn't seem to be available on www.isu.org now (at least it isn't listed there). Much of the information came from that, although I admit that parts of the schedule was wrong.
- Well I might have gotten a little grumpy, I have to admit that. It's just I don't like seeing wrong information being added (rather have no information than wrong information). - FakirNL (talk) 16:17, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Allright, no harm, no foul. I just created the WC 2, 3 and 4 articles. Maybe you'd like to check them for errors? Not that there is a whole lot of information yet...

Short track speed skating at the 2007 Canada Winter Games moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Short track speed skating at the 2007 Canada Winter Games, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 06:38, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- Since there is no new information in the article, and all I did was split off the short track events from Speed skating at the 2007 Canada Winter Games, it would be consistent to move that article to Draft:Speed skating at the 2007 Canada Winter Games as well. - FakirNL (talk) 09:15, 17 November 2019 (UTC)

- They are still two articles about the same championships right? - FakirNL (talk) 21:07, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
- The naming of these championships should be including gender since the world allround championships were held separete with the womens held in Butte, Montana USA, and the mens were held at Gothenburg, Sweden. So this article-title 1994 World Allround Speed Skating Championships should actually be a disambiguation-page for the 2 different championships.
