Prods

You said that "The articles themselves do not indicate how they are notable." I don't think that's a good reason to add a prod template. Proposed deletion is for uncontroversial deletion only; how are you to know if the deletion is uncontroversial if you don't search for sources? I don't think any editor should argue for deletion of an article without first making some effort at sourcing. A relevant essay is Wikipedia:Potential, not just current state. User:Fences and windows

Article that hasn't been edited since it was created a month ago seems a reasonable usage to encourage the articles improvement. As I patrol around the new pages, I prod only a very small percentage, the rest I improve to the degree I can and add the relevant maintenance tags. -Falcon8765 (talk) 21:55, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

The Alliance of the Orders of St. John of Jerusalem

Why did you make this edit? --Kwekubo (talk) 23:58, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Because Alliance of the Orders of St. John of Jerusalem already redirects there, feel free to restore it, the redirects were confusing. -Falcon8765 (talk) 00:00, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Please try to be careful when doing this kind of work. I had only just created that article (by splitting the content from its parent) when you reverted it. Cheers. --Kwekubo (talk) 00:26, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
My apologies, I would have left it alone if not for the other redirect, made me think it was a content fork. -Falcon8765 (talk) 00:29, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Removal of PROD from French Car and the Bulimic Wizards

Hello Falcon8765, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to French Car and the Bulimic Wizards has been removed. It was removed by Debs 23 with the following edit summary '(deleted the dated prod notice because the band has released FIVE albums.)'. Please consider discussing your concerns with Debs 23 before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Ethiopian names

Hi -- We seem to be at loggerheads over how to sort the categories of Dawud Ibsa Ayana. The problem is that "Ayana" is not his family name. Ethiopians do not have family names: the custom is to put their father's name in final position, so he would be "Dawud Ibsa, son of Ayana" or "Dawud, son of "Ibsa Ayana." Addressing him as "Ayana" makes about as much sense as calling Benjamin Franklin "Frank". I hope this makes sense. -- llywrch (talk) 05:29, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

No worries, AWB just adds defaultsorts like that, thanks for letting me know :). -Falcon8765 (talk) 05:34, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Mike Huckleberry edit

Simply put, the effort to save Electrolux was unsuccessful. The committee that Mike Huckleberry was on that was set up to try to save it was unsuccessful. This is a simple, immutable fact. His article as it stands is not complete and factual because it does not indicate that Electrolux went out of business. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jakewayd (talkcontribs) 04:25, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

My Contribution

Hey, Falcon

I live in South Auckland, I know what life is like here. You do not. Do you expect me to have a citation for me trying to state how bad life is here in South Auckland? New Zealand is not an easy place to live, maybe people like you from the USA have a nice sheltered life where you can make citations for everything, we cannot. How do you expect us to cite how bad life is here? Drag racing on Auckland streets is very serious.

Hi Falcon, I deleted 'The Last Crusade' because of the references to Templars. I do realise that many people are fond of the tale about the Templar order survivng it's suppression, however that tale is a complete invention. I also realise that students should NOT rely on Wikipedia - their Universities and Colleges tell them not to - but the fact is, they WILL do it, and, unless we remove romantic inventions, they will end up repeating them in their essays, resulting in them failing to get the grades they need. However, if you are aware of any evidence at all to support the post-suppression Temnplar story, do please pass on your information, but it is,perhpas, worth bearing in mind that the entire body of Scottish medieval scholarship this past hundred years and more has roundly refuted the Templar survival tale - probably because it was invented in the 1860s by James Burnes. If you are interested in medieval Scotland you might like to try the work of Professors Barrow, Duncan, Nicholson, Prestwich and Ayton, or that of Drs. King, M. Brown,Watson, Oram, Boardman, Davison etc. You might even try the work of Dr. Chris Brown....... Yours aye, Chris Brown.

Umm... All the references are already linked in the article. And there are only five external links. Are you looking for more citations? If so, the article should be tagged differently, because the tag you added is not appropriate! Can you please review your edit? Thanks, MeegsC | Talk 13:05, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

There are large sections of the article in question that don't have inline citations (the little numbers next to cited text). It has plenty of references, it just needs to have those references cited on the article text that uses them. -Falcon8765 (talk) 20:06, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Deleting unreferenced information

Hello,

I am not familiar with all of the Wikipedia's rules. At what point is it acceptable to delete unreferenced information from an article.

How long do you have to wait before deleting? How long do [citation needed] tags need to be there before you can delete the info.

Thanks

Proposal

Hi Falcon8765, I want to thank you for reverting the edits made by this 75. IP user on the Largest empires list, that IP editor constantly vandalizes this article, and as the protector or lone ranger of that article, I graciously ask you if you can contact an admin or get a group of good users to ban his IP address, his address is always the same. I am an IP editor who has not joined Wiki, and I'm thinking about it, but if you check my record, you will find that I have constantly worked with users to improve the article, and have no disputes with anyone, which means my record is good. So because I'm concerned for the integrity of the article, it would be the greatest favor and help if that IP editor is blocked or banned, banned might be better because some of his comments are rude and unforgiving towards me and others, he has a plan and never wants to be proven wrong. I would never like to ban anyone, but in order to perserve that article, he has to go. If you have any questions comment on on the talk page of the Largest empires article. I greatly thank you very much.--98.248.27.248 (talk) 02:40, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

I've added the page in question to my watchlist to prevent further vandalism. Falcon8765 (talk) 02:42, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Spontaneous Prose

Sponataneous Prose is a writing style referred to in the Jack Kerouac wiki entry. It's notability is being questioned. As in the "stream of consciousness" style refered to in the James Joyce's entry, the style requires a definition and entry.

The link from Jack Kerouac entry has been made. Further links expand on the On The Road connection to Spontaneous prose.

Invisible Man

Why was my minor edit regarding the prologue to Invisible Man deleted? It is factual that the prologue is written (at least in the story) while high on marijuana and listening to Louis Armstrong. Some may argue that the prologue itself is an attempt to lyrically reproduce the effects of being high. I, however, didn't go that far with the edit, as the source for that is my own English education and I couldn't exactly cite myself. But the Louis Armstrong thing is in the text itself, and I would argue is vital to understanding the context of the prologue. Not to be a jerk about this, I'm just wondering why that sentence didn't pass muster. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.132.1.150 (talk) 20:08, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Feel free to re-introduce the sentence with a reliable citation. :) Falcon8765 (talk) 21:06, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Knightmare.com edits

I'm not entirely certain what your complaints are regarding the edits I made to the entry on Knightmare. Your first complaint was that I added a link to the official Knightmare site. Your second complaint was that I hadn't referenced the statement I had made, which referred to an event on the aforementioned knightmare.com website.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.251.207.24 (talkcontribs)

If I can't add a link, how can I cite the (obviously relevant) material?

Perhaps you could correct the entry to something you find acceptable, rather than continually reverting it? I don't find the latter move to be particularly helpful.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.251.207.24 (talkcontribs)

138.251.207.24 (talk) 08:10, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

It just looks like you are trying to promote something that isn't particularly notable. See WP:VERIFY. By all means, include the content if you can provide a reliable, third-party souce mentioning it :). Falcon8765 (talk) 08:12, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Firstly, I think it's quite obviously relevant. A move to get a TV show released on DVD must surely be relevant for anyone interested in that TV show. Secondly, other pages from that same cite are used in citations (it's the official website). Surely that means that it's already considered to be a reliable source? :)
Oh, my mistake. Feel free to add it back or talk about it on the article's talk page. Falcon8765 (talk) 08:18, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
I think that in the first instance, I'll simply re-add it. It seems quite obviously relevant to the issue. If it causes additional problems, people can edit or discuss as they see fit.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.251.207.24 (talkcontribs)

History Section of tulu language page vandalised by UserUser:C21K

  • The section is as follows

In an ancient greek text titled the Charition mime(200 B.C.) which contains a play about greek sailors and their adventures in coastal parts of what is present day Indian state of karnataka, the Indian characters are seen speaking a language diffrent from greek.many scholars tried to identify the language.Noted German Indologist Dr. E.Hultzsch claimed that it was some ancient dravidian language that was spoken in those times.Studies conducted by Indian linguist like P.S.Rai[1] identified the language as Tulu. This finding was also affirmed by Central Institute of Indian Languages[2] as also Edith Hall,A research professor at University of London[3]. Also the Halmidi inscriptions makes mentions of the Tuluve people and their culture[4].There is also a Tamil poem written during the Sangam age that makes mention of the tulu land and its people[5].It also widely beleived that the Satyaputra kingdom mentioned in Ashokan edicts as one of the four kingdoms out of his rule is the Alva Kheda/Tulu Nadu region.[6]Attagirl (talk) 14:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

The picture in question was bigger than the article itself, feel free to put it back with the correct formatting; I wasn't sure how to format it. Falcon8765 (talk) 20:17, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Vivek Kundra

As an attorney and objective observer, I question the appropriateness of including information on this incident. Legally, Kundra was never convicted of anything--in Maryland, probation before judgment (or PBJ) is not a conviction and can be expunged from a person's record within three years. A person receiving a PBJ could honestly and legally say that he/she was never convicted of anything and does not have a criminal record. In fact, the whole point of a PBJ is to prevent people from having the "black mark" of a misdemeanor follow them for life. While Kundra's information is now out there on some blogs and a few publications, that does not mean it SHOULD be out there. Moreover, given the tone and purpose of his Wikipedia page (i.e. to provide information on his professional background and responsibilities of the CIO), it seems completely inappropriate and almost partisan in nature. For example, why is the theft that President Bush committed as a twenty-year-old not on his wikipedia page when it was covered by publications such as the New York Times? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.170.59.139 (talk) 16:40, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

I personally don't feel strongly about it when it's discussed rationally instead of anonymous editors removing it for no particularly good reason. Feel free to discuss the issue on Talk:Vivek Kundra if you disagree with its inclusion. Falcon8765 (talk) 20:21, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Rock Love

What did I do wrong? What was wrong with my additions/corrections? The times that I added are correct and everything else is honest and true information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.189.114.0 (talk) 03:39, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Confused

You got me confused on rollback. You reverted an edit for someone that "tested" out an article. You then gave them a "use the sandbox if you want to test" message. That is not considered vandalism. You used rollback though. Is there some kind or exception that I missed when reading the rollback page?  Btilm  03:47, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm using the tool WP:HUGGLE that patrols flagged edits. I generally use {{uw-test1}} for IP editors with no prior warnings just as an assumption of good faith. Falcon8765 (talk) 03:49, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
For more info in greater detail, check out WP:VAN, it's much more detailed than I could explain :). I don't recommend Huggle to you if you are just starting out, it's pretty hectic. Try doing reverts and the like manually to get a better feel for it and then if you are up to it try WP:TWINKLE :). Falcon8765 (talk) 03:51, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

summarizing

i only summarize the sub article. nothing more. theres lots of useless things in the article.--94.54.245.56 (talk) 04:25, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

User talk:Pedsnursing

Users are allowed to remove any comments from their Talk pages except for blocked notices. Your warnings are incorrect. Would you remind removing them? Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 04:58, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

I've removed your warnings. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 18:36, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks...

... for this. The page has a long history of precisely this edit (now somewhat rarely) made by a set of similar IPs. Thanks again, Drmies (talk) 16:02, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Vandalism?

I do not appreciate you accusing me of vandalism merely for blanking my own page. What I am doing is reading the messages, then deleting them to remove clutter from my page. I got your original message -- please stop putting it back on my page and then accusing me of vandalism to my own page. There has been consensus amongst numerous editors that users may remove messages from their own talk pages. Leave me alone. 98.220.27.165 (talk) 02:41, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
