Speedy deletion nomination of O'Connor Method

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on O'Connor Method, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Gaijin42 (talk) 16:42, 28 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:Cds-oconnoramericanaart.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 02:15, 9 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

OConnor Method Delete

edit

This is from 9 months ago, so my memory is hazy, but : The Article was deleted under speedy deletion criteria G11, which means "advertizing". I nominated the article for deletion, and then some other administrator reviewed my opinion and agreed. I do not remember the specifics of the article as it was some time ago, but generally G11 means that the article is reading like a promotion or ad for the product, and not an encyclopedic article. Also, if memory serves, the references for the article were all generally primary sources or self published sources, and not considered WP:RELIABLESOURCES which causes problems with both WP:VERIFIABILITY and WP:NOTABILITY

Again if memory serves, I thought that there may be problems with the notability of the method - please be sure to understand that "not notable" is a wikipedia term, which does NOT mean "unimportant". It just means that reliable sources (newsdpapers, magazines, books, news, radio, etc) have not discussed the topic.

This memory is reinforced by looking at the current O'Connor article, where the section on the oconnor method has minimal references, none of which are "reliable" - although I do seem to remember one ref from "strings" or "the strad" or something in the deleted article which would count.

If you have more questions or would like to discuss this more, you can reply here. Gaijin42 (talk) 14:52, 28 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

The links you provided would probably be sufficient to prove notability (although this is not a decision only made by me, but by consensus). However, remember the original was not deleted because of lack of notability, but because it was considered an advertizement. Any new article on the topic must be written in an encyclopedic manner, only including information from reliable sources, and prefereably also including criticism of the topic. (Im sure someone has written an article about why they think Suzuki is better for example) Advertizment also gets applied if the article includes excessive "contents" details, like listing all the songs or chapters, techniques etc that are not good encyclopedia content. Gaijin42 (talk) 18:11, 28 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, I will try again with just the information from the sources and criticism. I will keep out the list of songs and contents. Thanks again for your insight. (Fionakz (talk) 19:51, 28 August 2012 (UTC)).Reply

You do not need permission to recreate the page, you can just go ahead and do it. However, try to make the initial version you save fairly good with at least the references, otherewise someone may quickly move to delete it again. I recommend perhaps writing it offline or in your userspace, so you can add it to the main wikipedia all in one go. Gaijin42 (talk) 13:42, 29 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
