Compromised administrators

Can known administrators who lack empathy due their public exposure of neurodivergent tendencies lack the capacity to analyze disputes with an objective lens? Wouldn’t this be a conflict of interest when attempting to offer criticism to an awareness of an event and also to be told to refrain from making edits. Individuals who lack empathy should not be managing social awareness related issues because they don’t have the competence to evaluate the validity of the information. Hi @Sanman999, is there some specific situation that prompted this question?

In general, of course, administrators may have biases and not be fully objective, which is why everything on Wikipedia requires a consensus of multiple people. Also keep in mind that administration is usually not involved in conflicts unless they're an explicit rule violation—normal conflicts should generally be handled through mediation. 🍅 fx (talk) 07:19, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

Hi @Krichu4114so, and welcome to Wikipedia!

Your teacher is correct that Wikipedia can be edited by anyone (including you!) However, that doesn't mean that anyone can just write lies on a page and get away with it. We have strict verifiability rules, meaning that all information must be supported by a reliable source. Additionally, popular pages with a lot of controversy (for example some political or historic events) are locked so that only trusted users can edit them.

The issue is that when a page is about some niche unpopular topic, mistakes can go unnoticed for longer, since there isn't as much people looking at the page to check if everything is correct.

So, generally, Wikipedia is pretty accurate and probably won't contain flat out misinformation, especially on popular topics. However, there still may be some small inaccuracies. The best approach is to use Wikipedia as a starting point to get an overview on the topic, and then, if you're interested in some specific part of it, click on the citations in the Wikipedia article to read the information from the actual reliable sources.
