Welcome

edit

Hello, Flint Diao, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself has been or will shortly be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, but if you want to use the content from it, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Gurt Posh (talk) 23:49, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Flint Diao requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Regarding your user page

edit

Wikipedia has a guideline regarding user pages which states that they cannot impersonate articles to help avoid confusion for others. Per this, I have replaced the tag at the top of the page. You are welcome to discuss this reasonably, but please keep in mind that the guideline is not something easily circumvented. Given your other edits, it appears you wish to promote yourself, and attempting to do this is expressly prohibited. elektrikSHOOS (talk) 10:13, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Template:SAAJosephians

edit

A tag has been placed on Template:SAAJosephians requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it must be substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. MikeWazowski (talk) 14:09, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your contributed article, The Glee Project Season 1

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, The Glee Project Season 1. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - The Glee Project. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at The Glee Project - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Jnorton7558 (talk) 10:12, 7 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Just to clarify a little further. If you feel that at this time the 1st season should have its own page I would suggest bringing it up on the talk page so that a consensus is formed and then a move can happen which will move the edit history and everything to the new page, this is important so that things are attributed correctly. Then the main generic page can be edited to contain things relating to the all the seasons not just the 1st. Also, just me wondering, has there been an announcement that there will be more then this current season? Anyways hope this clears some things up. Jnorton7558 (talk) 10:33, 7 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

This is your last warning. The next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at The Glee Project, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. AussieLegend (talk) 10:48, 7 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Constructive contributions are appreciated, but, in this recent edit to Flintzel Diao, you removed Articles for deletion notices from articles or removed other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates. This makes it difficult to establish consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. ScottSteiner 07:46, 6 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with this edit to Flintzel Diao. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. ScottSteiner 08:19, 6 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
