Hello
Thank you for your response to my eight times table question on the Maths ref Desk recently. I will copy it out and try and find a friend who can 'translate' it for me or I will pursue trying to understand it myself! I have no mathematical knowledge apart from a very old O-level and have very weak arithmetic so have been using times tables instead of counting sheep. I was amazed when on the edge of sleep I noticed that the sum of the answers formed such a pattern.
I noticed on the the general discussion page for the Ref Desk there was a feeling that no-one said "thank you" these days, so I thought it appropriate to do so. I am not au fait with how Wikipedia works so cannot do anything fancy like awarding stars - I couldn't even find the 'edit' button to put my thanks under your answer! 80.176.84.184 (talk) 21:27, 3 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
- You're very welcome. It's not a problem with people saying thanks. It's just that -- yourself not included -- there are some anonymous IP editors that post homework questions verbatim and then vanish. They never reply to say if we helped them, they never reply to say thank you. It's like they abuse the resource. You're different because you came across as a human that gave some thought to the problem before just asking for an answer. ANYWAY… What don't you understand about the post? If you tell me then I'll be able to explain some more. Don't be shy :-) — Fly by Night (talk) 21:39, 3 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
