Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.

A few features that you might find helpful:

• Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
• The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
• Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
• The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, article logistics, and other tasks.
• We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
• We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.

Your WWll concern

• Luis, how are you? Thank you for posting your concern. This is some great stuff which you have posted and I congratulate you on the fact that you want to set the record straight. Don't make the corrections, I will do it, so that it will flow within the articles (I wrote both of them).

Even though it is true that the 65th Infantry and Puerto Rican National Guard Units were made up of Puerto Ricans who resided in the island and that those who were fluent in English were sent to regular Army units, it does make sense and there is a logic behind assigning Puerto Ricans to non-Puerto Rican units in the Canal Zone, thereby permitting mainland soldiers to be assigned to units overseas where most of the heavy fighting was taking place.

Who am I? I'm Tony Santiago and one of my main objectives is to write about the untold contributions which we have made to the U.S. and world in general. That is why I enjoy it when people such as yourself point out certain facts which sometimes slip through the cracks of history, thereby honoring men such as your father and uncle. Your Prompt Response

Thank you very much for the prompt action you took regarding my suggestions. My father served in HQ Battery, 762nd AAA Gun Battalion. An uncle served in Batty D, 766th AAA Gun Battalion. I never heard information about my uncle's service. I heard some sparse information about my father's. I have been researching the antiaircraft artillery battalions in Panama and their overall history, but it has been more like pulling teeth!

I never served in the military but was a volunteer for the Civil Air Patrol. I also represent the American soldier as a volunteer of the Army Ground Forces Association. This association represents several Coast Artillery organizations. I work with them when they have activities at Fort Hancock, part of Sandy Hook, a national park and at Fort Mott, a state park, both in New Jersey. The unit we present at Fort Hancock is 1942 Battery E, 245th CA and at Fort Mott is 1940 21st Coast Artillery. We wear period uniforms, and have been able to acquire and repair communications equipment such as switchboards, 1941 fire control telephones, azimuth instruments, a searchlight. At Fort Hancock we are also maintaining the guns and ammo hoist. Fort Mott also acquired an M1 90 mm antiaircraft gun in an M1A1 mount. Needs lots and lots of care, but that's to be expected...

User group for Military Historians

Greetings,

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Hey y'all, the April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive begins at 00:01 UTC on April 1, 2021 and runs through 23:59 UTC on April 31, 2021. Points can be earned through reviewing articles on the AutoCheck report, reviewing articles listed at WP:MILHIST/ASSESS, reviewing MILHIST-tagged articles at WP:GAN or WP:FAC, and reviewing articles submitted at WP:MILHIST/ACR. Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards.
