Hi ***, thanks for helping edit Fellowship of Friends. I would like to ask some advice as you seem to have more experience editing than I do. There are numerous sources of information for this organization but many are not publicly available. There is information that is known to thousands of members but I could only quote webpages that are not publicly accessible, publications that are circulated strictly inside the organization, or internal emails that are also not publicly verifiable. What can I do in such a case? How can I follow Wikipedia's guidelines for referencing and citing information, while making as much information available as possible? Please leave an answer on my talk page http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Wine-in-ark&action=edit Wine-in-ark 23:47, 21 March 2007 (UTC) thanksReply

Thank you for your prompt response. I sent an email to the other person involved.

You just removed various 'external links' that were referred to as vandalism. They all linked to AUDIO INTERVIEWS. The majority of them had more information in them than is currently on your pages at Wikipedia. Please tell me how this is not informative for your community

For instance:

Bart Johnson http://www.tommy2.net/content/intbartjohnson.php

Chris Warren Jr. http://www.tommy2.net/content/intchriswarrenjr.php

so basically I have been adding my glycoside template for some 40 mins to all the articles in category glycosides for it to be reverted.

ok maybe I shouldn't have pasted all the text of the tamplate but just put the name of the tamplate and it instead well who cares? the idea is that the page has a template

thye bots should be doing it? well noone said me

i get the idea that there are more vandalism reverters than the vandals themselves, this is BS

could you revedrt it back or substitute where there is entire text of the template with

if you don't like it (yea like if I was talking to a real person)

Okyea 00:06, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

oh sorry guess I am talking to a real person :D so what you want to say is that by pasting that template ive been sort of branded that my edits are experiments or something you mean that blue table?? actually I'm talking to you because I don't get it but i read that table three was nothing said about that

by saying that you didn't do that you mean that I would have to go through all those glycosides again

oh well then I could paste just the template name in parentheses instead of pasting all the text

I actually don't get it could you fix the experiment tag? Okyea 00:27, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Being vandalized

Hi ***!

Don't worry too much about your user page being vandalized. Such vandalism is actually good - it helps us spot people who could use a block from editing.

Also, it's a badge of pride. Some user page vandalism is random. Most is because you've annoyed someone and, because you were right, they've had no other option (as they see it) but to lash out at you... and get themselves a block, of course.

My user page has been vandalised numerous times - probably into the low 100s. Each one marks a victory for me and I'm proud of them - kinda like getting an American Purple Heart award! Also, often others revert the vandalism and that's nice too, just being noticed! :o) RΞDVΞRSЯΞVΞЯSΞ 20:46, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi ***, thanks for your answer. How do I contact the administrators? I haven't been able to find any way. All I can find are standard FAQ. Thanks a lot for your help! Wine-in-ark 01:07, 22 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Posting blocking messages and username blocks

Hi. You recently posted an "indef blocked" on the talk page of User:Amylouhadapoo. Firstly, it's not a good idea to post a "blocked" message if the user isn't actually blocked, since that can confuse admins. Secondly, the "indef blocked" template generally isn't used for username blocks, unless they are very obviously bad faIth usernames. If there's a possibility that the username was registered in good faith, the "UsernameBlock" template is much better - it's a polite message that explains why the name was blocked, provides a link to the username policy, and gives instructions about how to change a username or register a different one. Natalie 01:34, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

We were typing a message to each other at the same time. I still think it's a bad idea to put the blocked message up before the user is actually blocked. Not all of these names are caught through WP:AIV. Some admins, like myself, will look through the user creation log for inappropriate user names or see the user name on recent changes. So if I see this name through recent changes, and I visit their talk page, I might see the "blocked" message and assume that they are already blocked.Natalie 01:37, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet

Could you please take care of User:Rickquiroz and his (probable) sockpuppet User:Ivan-ossokin.

It wasn't really an experiment, although I admit I didn't get it quite right first time. Perhaps you could reformat it correctly. CS46 22:13, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've now reverted it back to my last attempt and corrected my very minor mistake. CS46 22:32, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

UserPage

Can you please remove the fame and defame section of your userpage? It is unnecessary for wikipedia and seems to violate WP:USER. Thank You. --KZ Talk Vandal Contrib 01:49, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't referring to Wikipedian users. How can you fame a Wikipedian? I just feel that it is unneccessary to include the MapleStory information on a userpage. --KZ Talk Vandal Contrib 01:59, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP:AIV

Unless usernames are outright offensive, or vandalistic in their names alone, please list them on WP:RFCN instead of WP:AIV. Thank you, — xaosflux Talk 03:27, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Answer To Your Question For Achim

It seemed convenient at the time.--Achim 03:29, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was advised by an administrator that the use of one's e-mail address is not a violation, though it may invite SPAM, meaning it may be inadvisable at worst.--Achim 03:34, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Explanations greatly deserved

Per what nonsense you put on my talk page I would like to ask you about what edits are "unhelpful or unconstructive."-- Hrödberäht (gespräch) 22:29, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh yes, its most likely just User:LUCPOL. -- Hrödberäht (gespräch) 22:33, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well he does not say he is vandalizing it, and no one cares too much about the issue when i bring it up, all they attempt to say is "well, maybe you two should take time to talk out the dispute", although it is not close to a "dispute", it is purely simple ignorance as i see it. -- Hrödberäht (gespräch) 22:51, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
No no no no, of course not! I meant User:LUCPOL! He stalks me around Wikipedia alot, by tracking my contributions constantly. -- Hrödberäht (gespräch) 23:42, 24 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, by commenting in a conversation between you and me here, it is clear that he is following my actions. -- Hrödberäht (gespräch) 00:43, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, he was, but now it seems he is putting his own edit summaries down, after i mentioned it. -- Hrödberäht (gespräch) 03:47, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar

Hey, thanks! Appreciate it. Funny, I had intended to write an article tonight, but made the mistake of checking out recent changes instead. So it goes ... Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 03:16, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

IP vandal

I'm sorry about that mistake. What threw me off, is that it was not stated that it was a banned user circumventing a block in the block log. I'm certainly not trying to accuse anyone of not assuming good faith. I thought there might be more too it, but I saw no evidence at first. That clears things up. Thank you. I wouldn't have had the patience to deal with all that vandalism, either.--Wikipedier (talk contribs) 03:28, 25 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

hey sorry...

for vandalizing before...just wanted to let you know that I've been unblocked (if you even knew I was blocked in the first place) and that I'll try to make good edits from now on. I just got carried away by how cool it was that you could just change any page like that. So no more hehes, I guess...— Preceding unsigned comment added by Letsdothis (talkcontribs) 05:10, March 25 2007 (UTC)

Your signature

Could you do something about your signature please? It's unreadable (at least on my monitor), and uses much too much code. See our guidelines at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing your signature. Thanks. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 18:00, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's much better, thanks. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 19:50, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the Barnstar!

Heya :) Thanks for the Barnstar! Haha I think I scared him... he kept blanking your page (the one that says that you'll get banned if you blank it), so I left a {{test4}} with something like "See what happens if you vandalise that page again." ... and they havn't edited since :D lol

Anyway! Well your userpage is on my watchlist, so if they come back, one of us will find it! :D

Fellowship of Friends page

Hi ***, I noticed you helped Wine-in-Ark dealing with vandalism on the page of the Fellowship of Friends. There is an editor (Veronicapoe) that is undoing edits without explaining the reasons. Do you have any advice? Thank you. Mario Fantoni 21:35, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

1. Don't get overheated. Make positive contributions to the encyclopedia. 2. Some people run around here trying to be policemen - it is not pretty. Try to be human. 3. I was trying to add legitimate information I wanted to find. It kept being removed. 4. Goodnight - perhaps it is better here! 88888 23:45, 31 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
