New York City Meetup
|
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, look at our approval by the Chapters Committee, develop ideas for chapter projects at museums and libraries throughout our region, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the November meeting's minutes and the December mini-meetup's minutes).
We'll make preparations for our exciting museum photography Wikipedia Loves Art! February bonanza (on Flickr, on Facebook) with Shelley from the Brooklyn Museum and Alex from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
We'll also be collecting folks to join our little Wikipedia Takes the Subway adventure which will be held the day after the meeting.
In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and generally enjoy ourselves and kick back.
You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.
To keep up-to-date on local events, you can also join our mailing list.

Vandalism/Youtube
I just watched your Youtube video and was wondering why you have gotten so much vandalism. I'm guessing that most of it came because you posted that on Youtube and people saw your username. Daniel Christensen (talk) 00:21, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- If you can, you seriously should change your username or remove that video since its the top hit when you look on youtube.Ottawa4ever (talk) 21:30, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Wrong IP
Hi. You send me a vandalism message about "72.89.85.197" making some vandalism edits. However you must have me confused with another IP on the Verizon network that I connect to (I have dynamic IP) as I very rarely make any edits, and I certainly didn't edit this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MysticArcher (talk • contribs) 18:58, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Appreciation
Hey, thanks! Appreciate that! It's amazing how such a simple thing can make this seem like a friendlier place. By the way (looking at messages above) -- happy Wiki-birthday; two years of work here is impressive. As volunteer gigs go, this one isn't bad. Have a great weekend! Thanks. I think I'll alter it a little for my user page, so I might edit it. But don't worry, I'm not going to actually save it to yours, I'm just going to hit the preview button over and over again. --How may I serve you? Marshall Williams2 01:44, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
An exciting opportunity to get involved!
As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 03:30, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Discussion at WikiProject New Jersey
Hi, NHRHS2010, User:Nightscream and I had a disagreement over certain parts of NJ municipality articles; because the discussion could potentially affect hundreds of articles, we decided to bring the discussion to WikiProject New Jersey. I would value your input in the discussion, which you can find here. Thanks, A Stop at Willoughby (talk) 15:18, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

As a member it would be helpful if you would
- Add the project page to your watchlist
- Add yourself to the participant category, either by adding a userbox, or by adding [[Category:WikiProject California participants|{{PAGENAME}}]] to your userpage.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask at the project talk page, or feel free to ask me on my talk page.
Again, welcome! -Optigan13 (talk) 00:33, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
You recently reverted my edit on indo-sino war saying my edit contains copy protected info.Well dont we all post info in wikipedia by some book or site?Of course I over did it but I just want to tell you that I will try to rectify and I am seriously hoping that you wont revert a good edit completely.I mean if you think it contained too much info from a page you should have edited instead of deleting it entirely. No hard feelings. Education Task Force - The conversion of the former WikiProject Education is New Jersey has been completed. New Jersey education-related articles are now supported by the Education task force. The project banner has been updated to fully support the task force with independent importance ratings. No More Comments - A proposal at the Village Pump has resulted in the deprecation of comments subpages. These were usually found at Talk:Article title/Comments and contained little more than assessment notes. These pages were not widely watched, and are often a hidden location for vandalism and BLP violations. WPNJ has 104 articles that used these pages. A complete list of them, along with their contents, can be viewed at Wikipedia:WikiProject New Jersey/Deprecation of comments. It is up to the members of WPNJ to decide what to do with this information. |

Municipality template compromise; School Districts (almost) complete | New WPNJ members
Legislative templates in municipal articles - A rather lengthy discussion ran from the end of August until the end of October regarding the use of our legislative district templates in articles about local municipalities. Many WPNJ members commented on the concept, and a proposed compromise seems to have been reached. The templates will require some adjustments to fit the new wording, but should result in more directly relevant sections about County, State, and Federal representation in our articles on cities, towns, villages, townships, and boroughs. Hopefully, more dicussions like this can result is some kind of Manual of Style to bring greater standardization to all of these articles. School District articles now comprehensive - WPNJ Founder Alansohn recently reported that almost all of New Jersey's school districts now have articles - "I have created the article for the last missing (non-vocational) school district in the state." Congrats to Alansohn, who I am sure would love more members at the Education task force to help maintain these articles! |

Editor's news. OK, so I am going to try this again. It's been a little over a year since our last edition, and activity at the project was a bit slow during that time. Things have picked up again over the last few months, so once more into the breech I go. I will try to produce this newsletter on a regular basis (bi-monthly?) to see if we can get some more activity going at WPNJ. Help is always appreciated, and there is plenty to do. - Jim Miller See me | Touch me
