Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Salt War (1540). Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Italian cuisine. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Foodinitaly) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. Hello, thanks for your message. I'm sorry that you are annoyed. It's always tricky when an account appears that is named after an organisation or (as in this case) a website, and starts adding links to that website. As I'm sure you understand, that immediately gives the appearance of a conflict of interest. The policy on usernames I linked to above does not really allow usernames that are promotional, and arguably yours is. I understand that you wanted to be transparent in your actions, but it might be better if you changed to a username not named after your website, and left a note on your talkpage stating that you operate that website.

Using your blog posts as a source is covered in our guidelines under Verifiability#self-published sources. If you are verifiably a recognised expert in your field, then it is possible that your material could be used. Using articles that you have had published in reliable peer reviewed journals should be fine. There is still the issue of a conflict of interest though, so if you want to add these sources, it would be best to drop a note at the talkpage of the relevant article, to get consensus. Sometimes article talkpages don't get much traffic, in which case you can also leave a message or question at the reliable sources noticeboard.

Adding links to the "external links" sections of articles is a separate issue from reliability. Wikipedia is not a directory or collection of links and we aim to keep external links to a bare minimum - really trying to only include things that add encyclopedic value that cannot be included in the article text for some reason.
