Thanks. I didn't see it. It was so teeny, and nestled under the infobox. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:41, 22 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Dance Moms

edit

Hi For An Angel--I see you've been active on that article. I think there's a bit too much plugging of websites and adding of fan cruft going on, and if it continues, in the next week or so, I might semi-protect it. I guess I'm writing this note to give you a heads-up; you seem to be a reasonable editor who is aware of Wikipedia's guidelines and the article needs all the help it can get. I am somewhat strict when it comes to our guidelines, I guess: I want to see a clean and well-referenced article, not a vehicle for spam and fan chat. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 15:32, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

no problem

Sorry if I blew up a little -- finding that attack was startling. I've done a fairly radical edit on the talk page that I hope will suit you. The Marion Barry event took place at the worst moment in my life -- I apologized profusely but am still embarrassed whenever anybody brings it up, and it seemed completely inappropriate there. I hope we will find ourselves in agreement on other matters soon. Best, Tim. Mitegap (talkcontribs) 22:47, 22 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Images

edit

Hi. I looked at the new image "gallery" format, but I think the images are better used to illustrate the text along the way. Did you have an objection to where the images are now, or were you just proposing a possible alternative? If you feel very strongly about it, we could try to get a few more people to give us opinions about it, but my sense is that the well-regarded performer bio articles do not do this. See Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, David Bowie and Anna May Wong, for example. All the best, -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:19, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Dance Moms

edit

Hi, For An Angel. Thanks for weeding out some of the unencyclopedic commentary at Dance Moms. I appreciate you working on the article. I know it can be difficult dealing with a popular subject with a large and enthusiastic fanbase. (That, of course, was the reason the article was protected in the first place.) But I think it is necessary to stub out almost all of the information in the cast section as unsourced BLP info. Cast information should be re-added only with in-line citations to good sources. I'm sorry to diminish the article -- and hope you'll be able to work with it. Cheers. CactusWriter (talk) 19:00, 16 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Angel, I LOVE your edit summary. OMG, I can't believe the drama tonight. All that over an engagement ring?? And did you see what car that woman is driving? that's more than my annual salary. Uh-oh, we're back, and Abby is mad. Later, Drmies (talk) 01:25, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • LOL Thanks. Melissa is definitely starting to act strange. IMHO, she's confusing the concern that the other moms are showing her with nosiness. Although, I can't help but wonder how much of the show is real and how much is scripted, especially when yet another mom storms out of the studio. Maddie's crying did seem real though :-(. For An Angel (talk) 04:07, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes it did seem real--poor kid. Well, with a mom acting like that, who wouldn't cry. Storms out, while on the phone dictating a letter she will later disavow, leaving one of her children with someone else, sheesh. FWIW, Mrs. Drmies made the same comment you did, about "scripted". I know the moms are the main attraction, but they bore me. Then again, new boobs, that's always nice. We just bought a new car and I love looking at it, just sitting in the driveway--I guess a pair of new boobs must be like that ("reimbursement"). See you next week, Drmies (talk) 04:46, 21 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

"Dark Waltz"

edit

Since the album Pure is blue linked, I believe that we do not need to further identify it. That is one of the strengths of Wikipedia - the blue-link makes it unnecessary to give all the information in every article that mentions the linked item, even though it would be ambiguous without the link. Westenra didn't write "Dark Waltz", and saying her name in that place in Evancho's album only obscures the point, which is that Evancho sang the song in this broadcast in 2012. I suggest that we either:

  1. Delete the words "by Hayley Westenra" to give the minimum amount of information necessary to identify the song; or
  2. Move all the information about Pure, Westenra and the songwriters into a footnote like this: "Dark Waltz"[fn]

Please let me know. Thanks. -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:27, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I'll go with a footnote. "Ave Maria" has a Schubert version and a Bach/Gunod version. Jackie has performed both versions at different events. On AGT, for example, she did Gunod. On DWTS, she did Schubert. With Tim Janis, she did Schubert. All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:31, 1 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Trust (2010 film)

edit

Hello. Many thanks for your recent rewrites in respect of the abovementioned film. I have endeavoured, on previous occasions, to make the article flow slightly better. In your edits, you wrote that Annie 'had sex' with Charlie. In your opinion, would the word 'rape' be a better reflection as to what happened? I am not criticising you at all. I am just curious because I have performed work on the article. I was just wondering what your perspective is. Please do not feel motivated to change it, but I just want to give an accurate portrayal of what transpired in the film. Thank you for your wonderful edits. (Galaxycat (talk) 21:37, 19 June 2012 (UTC))Reply

hello. Thank you so much for the detailed answer that you sent me. I understand your point of view. Unfortunately, I have been quite busy and I will send you a more detailed response soon. (Galaxycat (talk) 12:37, 28 June 2012 (UTC))Reply

Hello. Another user replaced your edits with the word 'rape.' I did not amend the edit, but placed the issue on the Talk page in order to open up the debate to other users. Upon reflecting on the situation, 'having sex' or 'had sex' more accurately depicts the situation as Annie saw it at the time. Part of the importance of the film is that many girls/ young women do not define what happen to them as being rape. The way Annie likely viewed the situation was that she met a gman and he liked her so much that he had sex with her. Under the law, she was raped. Most people would view the act as being one of rape. A prosecuting lawyer would argue that Annie did not consent and that Charlie overpowered her will and procured sex with a minor. I really hope that you will add to the discussion. I am very impressed with your arguments (Galaxycat (talk) 18:44, 30 June 2012 (UTC))Reply

Evancho

edit

This new editor, Gillwill2000, has deleted the clarifying information in the footnote to the Page article three times now (see, e.g. this, near the bottom). I think we need the information warn the reader about Page's longstanding objection to child prodigies that prejudices his article, even though he has not actually bothered to find out about Evancho's upbringing or repertoire. I left a message on the talk page, which Gillwill2000 has attempted to rebut but, IMO, the information is both relevant and necessary. Proposed deletion of Steven Purugganan

edit

The article Steven Purugganan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Stripping out the unsourced information leaves little more than a stats table, and we need more than just stats references to demonstrate notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proposed deletion of File:The Book of Stars soundtrack.jpg

edit

The file File:The Book of Stars soundtrack.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in The Book of Stars#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE and MOS:TVPRODUCTION.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
