Style issues with Australian TV articles
editHi, thanks for your good work on these. I've been going through them making partly script-operated and partly manual changes. Just a few points:
- Some of the older ones introduced rafts of flag icons, which I've replaced with the country names (regrettably not quite in the right positions); the style guide discourages over-emphasis on nationality, and it's not immediately clear why this is of such importance in the tables where used.
- Em dashes, and in a few cases hyphens, are sometimes used for year ranges; I've fixed these. The button for this is underneath the edit box in all cases, or the dash script can easily be loaded (ask me how). Straight-glyph apostrophes are mandated, not curlies (don't ask me why ...).
- Subtitles lower case after the first character, unless there's a proper name.
I'm also pinging User:Whats_new?
My best, Tony (talk) 09:34, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for all the advice. Unfortunately though, I do the majority of my editing via mobile so I'm not presented with dash and apostrophe options so I'll just have to leave any edits involving them until I can do it on my PC. Thanks again, Forbesy 777 (talk) 01:01, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
Australian TV station articles
editHi. In regards to your recent edits on MTN (TV station), I applause your efforts in rewriting parts of the article. However, the information you added to the introduction was already featured under the "History" section. In addition, introductions are meant to be just that, an introduction to an article/topic instead of an in-depth list of detail (that can be saved for the main body of the article). Also, the page move that you made from MTN to MTN/AMN/MDN was rather uncalled for and goes against the current Manual of Style already in place on other similar articles.
The multiple station names are only used for two stations that have been merged and operate effectively as one single station, an example being GTS/BKN. Both are two stations owned by Southern Cross TV that are Seven affiliates with the same programming and operations. You are unintentionally getting confused with supplementary stations, which in GTS/BKN's case are SGS/SCN and GDS/BDN. These supplementary stations operate from GTS/BKN, but are affiliates with Ten and Nine respectively (their details are also included within the article). As such, in articles such as this, the primary station is relative to the page name, while the supplementary stations are included in the article as they operate from the main station, but are not separate. If you have any questions concerning this, please ask me. Regards. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 13:17, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

- Hi. I thank you for your edit to List of digital television channels in Australia, however, I just wanted to double check the LCNs you listed for MTN station with 7TWO on LCN 66 and 7mate on LCN 60. The LCNs have not been contested in the long period that they have been listed, and I just wanted to double check that this is correct. Do you live in Griffith or the M.I.A.? Have You Been Paying Attention?
editHey, I noticed on the Have You Been Paying Attention? you added the cast section with episode wins. However, listing episode appearences like that are generally frowned upon because it may breach WP:TVCAST and it might be removed by other editors. I don't have an issue with it, but just thought I'd give you the heads up in case you wanted to make any changes or prepare a justification for it should it be challenged. -- Whats new?(talk) 01:31, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

Australian News Channel
editHi, I've reverted your edit to Australian News Channel in which you removed Sky News Weather as being owned by the channel. As you'll note in reviewing recent references already in that article, in addition to the shareholdings register of the channel, its ownership was transferred from Foxtel to ANC during News Corp's purchase of ANC. -- Whats new?(talk) 04:03, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Whats new?: Hi Whats New?, Thank you for the message and apologies for the delay in replying. Thank you for reverting my edit. I was unaware they were included in the purchase, as I was only going by the information in the Sky News Weather Channel and A-PAC articles, which obviously are outdated. I will attempt to update these articles when I have some spare time, if no one beats me to it that is. Have a great weekend, Forbesy 777 (talk) 01:10, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- No problem. I don't believe A-PAC was included however so its owner remains Foxtel, just operated by Sky News. -- Whats new?(talk) 03:18, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Whats new?: This is the only reference (although not necessarily the most reliable source) I have been able to find to explicitly say that Weather (as well as A-PAC) were acquired by News Corp in the purchase. Forbesy 777 (talk) 06:54, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- See here -- Whats new?(talk) 23:06, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Whats new?: Even a reliable source like TV Tonight has reported A-PAC was included in the purchase - just not as explicitly as the former ref. A shareholders list isn't necessarily up to date or reliable. Forbesy 777 (talk) 03:55, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
- Well if you'd like to debate the point further I'm happy to, but I'd prefer to go by the Foxtel shareholders list in regards to actual ownership -- Whats new?(talk) 04:24, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

The article Foxtel 3D has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Appears to fail WP:GNG and WP:NTV, since it is currently a stub. It also currently has only 2 references, one from Foxtel themselves and the other reference from TV Tonight.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
