editHello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:09, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
Word of advice for AFD
editRegarding your participation in the AFD for The 404(podcast), I can tell that your pretty new around here. I understand that you don't want your article to be deleted, and that you feel that rebutting every !vote will help the closing admin to make a better decision. It's okay to make multiple comments in an AFD discussion, as long as they are clearly marked as comments. If you make multiple comments marked keep, that will confuse people, and lead to accusations of ballot box stuffing. Furthermore, rebutting every !vote is considered obnoxious. If you see multiple !votes that make essentially the same point, there's no need to rebut them all. JUst rebut the logic. Above all, remember that AFD is a discussion, not a vote. Understanding the process
editWell, one of the most important things to know in this case is that articles are generally judged on their own merits. The deletion of one article cannot be used to disparage a similar article. I would suggest reading WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS. After reading the article you mentioned, I question whether it would stand up at AFD. It's very possible that nobody has ever bothered to nominate it. It could be a worthwhile learning experience for you to nominate the Buzz out Loud page for deletion, just so you can gain familiarity with our standards for inclusion, and the deletion process. If you don't want to do that, I would advise you to follow WP:AFD and WP:DRV closely, so you can gain familiarity with our standards for inclusion and our deletion process.
On the issue of sources for Buzz out Loud, one independent source may be all that is necessary to establish notability. Sources affiliated with the article's subject aren't disallowed, they just aren't sufficient to establish notability. They are acceptable as sources of information about a subject that has received significant coverage in independent sources. For more information, see WP:RS. Nomination of Samuel Hengel for deletion
editA discussion has begun about whether the article Samuel Hengel, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Samuel Hengel until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.
You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. WWGB (talk) 01:20, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Ivyann schwan.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Ivyann schwan.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:26, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
