File permission problem with File:Cybersmile Logo Thumbnail.pdf

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Cybersmile Logo Thumbnail.pdf. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:08, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Blocked from editing

edit

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Specifically, your account seems to exist to promote The Cybersmile Foundation. — Scott talk 21:53, 4 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

I have edited the page for The Cybersmile Foundation as asked to by my boss. I apologise if this has caused offence as I didn't realise that you're not allowed to write about the place that you work for. We were just trying to make sure that our information is out there for people who need us to find. I hope that the page can stay up even if I can't write on it anymore :) - this was obviously work related but I do use wikipedia a lot outside of work as well but now can't access as my laptop IP has been blocked. Would really appreciate having the IP unblocked and I will be more careful about following guidelines.

Decline reason:

I'm afraid I can't action this unblock request purely because we already have a User:Toast312. I will, however, take this appeal up with the blocking administrator, since if you're willing to change your username and avoid editing pages about Cybersmile then I see no reason not to unblock you. Please could you post a new unblock request below, with a unique username (check Special:ListUsers to see whether it's already taken). Yunshui  11:58, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Please see the talk posts above, don't think this username is taken! Thank you Yunshui

Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Yunshui  12:14, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
It's a bit close to User:Frenchtoast34, but since they've only ever made one edit (back in 2007) I don't think there's any danger of confusion. I've left a message for the blocking admin (Scott), just waiting now on his opinion. Yunshui  12:12, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Scott's cool, unblock accepted. Yunshui  12:14, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Incidentally, when you are filing your change of username request you can if you wish request to usurp the name Toast312 - I didn't suggest this before because it can prolong the renaming process, but in this case it looks fairly straightforward. Yunshui  12:16, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
That's fine, I'm happy with the other name. Thank you though! frenchtoast312
Cool. What you need to do now, then, is go to this page and follow the instructions there. That will log a rename request (just changing your signature isn't enough, I'm afraid). Once you've done that, you can get back to editing (although not about Cybersmile, obviously!) and a bureaucrat will change your username shortly. Yunshui  12:48, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
And it's done. From now on, just make sure you log in as Frenchtoast312. Happy editing! Yunshui  13:11, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
(Incidentally, you can, if you wish, now remove all the block/unblock templates from this page.) Yunshui  13:12, 5 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
