Wasn't Hispañola(In modern day called Haiti and Dominican Republic) the first land on which the Europeans embarked. It is true that Hispañola was possibly the first European colony. Christopher Columbus mainly settled on that island when he arrived in the Americas. Therefore, there couldn't be another first European settlement.
