Speedy deletion nomination of The London Rib-Fest
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on The London Rib-Fest requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. WuhWuzDat 19:47, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Ribfest.svg
editThanks for uploading File:Ribfest.svg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Orphaned non-free image File:Ribfestlogo.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Ribfestlogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 08:16, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

editPlease do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to London, Ontario. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. editI'm newer to Wikipedia, how is adding more information about the festivals in London view as not being neutral and as promotional. I'm trying to update the information on London. No one had issues of taking out information on festivals that don't exist anymore. I would like a better understanding why the two future links about festivals in London is not allowed. Thank you for your input as this will help me understand future things I can do. Fscjonesy (talk) 18:29, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Hello Fscjonesy. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Over the past six months you appear to have created a number of articles, including London Ribfest,The International Food Festival (London, Ontario), and Windsor Ribfest, for public events which all appear to be produced by the same London Ontario based event management company "Family Shows Canada". The events connected to the two "future links" (we usually refer to them as "red-links") which you attempted to add to the London, Ontario article this morning, Kids Expo and Fall Fest also both appear to be produced by the same company as well. If you are in any way associated with that firm, please pay close attention to this information. It's important to remember that creating articles or adding information to existing articles regarding subjects that you are affiliated with in a business sense, is strongly discouraged by our policies and is in most cases regarded as a conflict of interest. Please do not make any more additions to existing articles (or create new articles) regarding subjects in which you have a personal interest until other editors have an opportunity to review the situation. In the meantime, please review the material available at the links appearing above which provide information regarding our policies pertaining to potential conflicts of interest. thank you Deconstructhis (talk) 05:46, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
'Thank you for your reply. I added the information about these shows and updated London Ribfest because a lot of posts about events are wrong because it is done by third parties (this happens with newspaper and radio reporting on information they receive from third parties). I will reframe from doing so if that is Wikipedias wish. For an example of why I have done these updates: I only add to what concerns what I know (this way the information is 100% correct), other events put false information to get people to attend. Thank you for your concerns and content, I understand if the articles are earased. I believe companies should report on themselves unless they are just patting themselves on the back. If any of the articles do not get erased I will remove anything that appears to be self promotion. Festivals are dying and I'm trying to get the word out about them, thanks.' - Just out of curiosity, who and what are the "I" and "us" and the ownership of "rights" being referred to here? [1] thanks Deconstructhis (talk) 15:51, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Windsor Ribfest
editYou may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
A tag has been placed on Windsor Ribfest, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Deconstructhis (talk) 13:41, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
The article Windsor Ribfest has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Article makes no inherent claim to notability and appears to exist exclusively to promote an event that won't occur until August of this year contrary to WP:NOTCRYSTALBALL.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Deconstructhis (talk) 20:03, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
