Thank you for your new article - it was on my personal list of redlinks. I hope you don't mind me copyediting it a little, and adding a few extra bits. I have suggested it at Template talk:Did you know, so it may appear on the Main Page in the next few days. -- ALoan (Talk) 22:27, 11 July 2006 (UTC) And so it did:

Why did you replace the multi video with a video? I know it's ugly, but it's better than image:filename.ogg ? I'm waiting for someone to clean up the template (I don't know how), but in the meantime it seems to be the best of all evils of including a video in an article? I want to include a description of it, and you removed that description? Isewell 01:24, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I expanded the above page today, I hope that is OK with you. All of your text is still there, although not perhaps in the order you left it. Please feel free to make any changes you think necessary. Regards Giano (talk) 19:43, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'm always nervous when touching someone else's work. It was a good foundation to work on. Giano (talk) 00:20, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- It is now an FA. Thank you for starting the page and also for not displaying any ownership issues or resentment to me for moving in on it. I know (from experience) it can be disconcerting when others start to heavily edit a page one has written. It is nice to see a Poruguese related FA, hopefully it will be on the main page one day. editHi. I found you in categories of users who can contribute in English and Portuguese. I myself am a native speaker of English, but I'm well on my way to learning Portuguese. Just check out my user page and talk page, and join in any of the discussions. To keep updated, you can even put a watch on my user page, which will automatically watch my talk page. :-) learnportuguese (talk) 18:15, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Igreja de São Roque
editHi. Got your message. Sorry about the duplication but I did look when I first signed in ... I guess I was looking more for the Portuguese name. Even over the last 3 months the other site has not popped up. I really am sorry.
I will look at the other article today or tomorrow and see what needs to be merged. I have been working with the church (really the Museo) since 2001 on their pamphlets and guides. We are producing new (100-page) guides this summer (just waiting for the final OK from the Brotherhood of St. Roch), one in Portuguese and one in English. Much of the updated material comes from recent studies (last 10 years) of Portuguese scholars; but many of the historical aspects surrounding the church have been researched and added by me. The Portuguese version incorporated much of what I had done to revise the earlier Guide book, and the new English version will in fact be more detailed than the Portuguese, since I wanted to added much more background for the English-language tourist who would not be so familiar with things Portuguese (or things Lisbonian).
Anyway, when I get the chance (very soon), I will be in touch again.
P.S. I have also done a whole series of articles on the Lagoa Region of the Algarve, where I spend my winters. Much has been translated from the Portuguese Wikipedia, and I will have to wait until October or November when I get back over to my Lagoa books to add more references. I also want to add some photos next winter. I am also a Portuguese Wikipedia user/contributor, but at a very low level! Ron B. Thomson (talk) 16:05, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Second message: I have read over the SR Church article, and picked out all the material not in the Igreja article, and added it to the Igreja article. I have also added three of the pictures. (I have even gone back and added the IdeSR as a catagory to the images already in the article.) Furthermore I have followed your References links to IPPAR and Monumentos, and added them to the Igreja article, along with more precise links. I can't see anything else to add to make the Igreja article complete.
Do you want to blank the "São Roque Church" article and change it into a redirect? Or would you like me to do that? Best wishes, Ron B. Thomson (talk) 21:18, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
New Messange: It was that little one-sheet guide to the church that got me going. When I first went there the English version was very, very bad (in terms of English grammar and vocabulary) so I rewrote it and sent camera-ready copy to the Museum staff. Since about 2002 the English version has been what I wrote. I don't know if you saw that sheet or the Portuguese one.
Since then we have redone the guide book and now I am working on revising the one-sheet guide to include more up-to-date information. However, the Museum people are as yet undecided on what the small version will look like and because of the Museum renovations, probably have not got time to worry about it. I think I should prod them, once I have finished my update, to at least get a designer to give them some ideas and some prices for a new version. BestRon B. Thomson (talk) 18:02, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

editHi again. I just rewrote the bit about the painting in the Musuem of St. Roque. As you can see, it was not an altar piece there (the Jesuit church had not yet been built), but was over at Conceição-Velha. It was one of the few items to survive the Earthquake and the Brotherhood of the Misericórdia brought it with them to S. Roque when they took over the former Jesuit church in 1758 (or whenever). Cheers, Ron B. Thomson (talk) 18:36, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
Belem Tower
editI noticed you did a lot of good work developing the Belém Tower article a few years ago, including adding a few references. I've spent some time working on it recently including adding inline sources. Do you know of any info from those sources that can be used to further improve the article? Cheers, Strafpeloton2 (talk) 01:31, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
