G'day and welcome on board (I'm sure someone will come along and stick a welcome message with hints and things soon), good on you for getting stuck int oa few bird articles - I just tweaked a couple of things as I found making the sections about taxonomy and naming allowed the scection to be about classification etc. as well, which made them more comprehensive since the scietific names are intimately linked with classification. Have a look at some featured articles such as Kakapo and Common Raven to see how big they can get. I was thinking of getting the ol' orange belly up to that level at some stage as it is a fascinating read. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 04:44, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the positive feedback and constructive criticism. I'm new to this and can use all the help I can get. No problems at all with any of the changes you have made. Thanks. GCBabbler 08:11, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Just had a look at the Common Crow and Kakapo. Spectacular. The poor old OBP and Turq's have got a long way to go. GCBabbler 08:16, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bird article edits

edit

Thanks so much for your additions on conservation status of a few bird articles - what's more they're referenced which is great. Keep up the good work - especially using reliable references for each addition - too many don't and it doesn't help wikipedia's reliability. The only suggestion I can make is to continue using the <ref>blah blah blah</ref> or <ref name> formats instead of simply using [url]. Your use of citation templates is good too. Anyway, I fixed up one article (but no cite template yet though). Welcome to wikipedia and happy editing. If you have any questions, let me or others know. cheers --Merbabu 07:53, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have looked at your editing, and will endeavour to reference as you have suggested in the future. There's so much more information to add to so many of the bird articles, and so few hours in the day. I'll keep plugging away a little at a time. GCBabbler 09:04, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Weed society of victoria

edit

A tag has been placed on Weed society of victoria requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 01:47, 16 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
