Buttons on the insignia of imperial ranks
editForemost thank you for your work, I contribute as much as I can to the history of Brazil, in several articles, I appreciate your recent editions as well. I have a suggestion for your insignia representations, in the middle of the golden buttons there was a smaller imperial coat of arms, like this one.. Often, the symbol in place of the imperial shield was determined by the occupation of the officer, such as that used by the Engineer corps. Paraguassuu (talk) 03:20, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- Bom dia @Paraguassuu.
- I did not know that the buttons had a Coat of Arms within them. I based my representations almost entirely of José Wasth's drawing (found in page 47)
- I will eventually update the files, eventually, but I: have some more urgent tasks in the meanwhile; and it would be pleased if you had some illustration/photo with the button. I will eventually update the files ok?
- Galahad1822 (talk) 11:21, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- Well, there are some variations from the First Reign to the Second, but the most common, in officers, is that the uppermost button was the coat of arms in the epaulettes. In the common buttons, some examples: 1, 2, and 3. As for the symbols that made up the rest of the ornament, I have not yet found specific photos or sources that specify exactly how their ranks were represented. Except for the army marshal who as you have put it, came with the imperial arms, just the armillary sphere, the crown and the crossed coffee and tobacco branches. Paraguassuu (talk) 16:05, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Paraguassuu
- I have updated the officers for now. I will conclude the NCOs later on.
