Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Workers' Party (Singapore), did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. @Ythlev: Hey Gandalfett- I see you have been involved in some reverts both with myself [1] and the user Ythlev [2]. Let me know if there's some way we can find the right answers. Geographyinitiative (talk) 04:14, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Revert on Chinese Singaporeans

edit

Hi Gandalfett,

I've noticed you reverted my edit on Chinese Singaporeans without leaving a reason. The reason for the edit was Chinese Singaporeans usually refer to themselves as 华人, rather than 华裔. If you have any disagreements, please start a section on the talk page of the article. Thank you.

December 2021

edit

I notice per this ANI discussion that you have been removing a talkpage comment without even leaving an edit summary here, and removing text + reverting users at Chinese Singaporeans, [3][4][5]. None of these removals seem constructive, and, worse, most of them are completely unexplained. And, while this one has an edit summary ("Not useful information and may arise wrong implications"), it's not a good explanation. Useful to who? What implications? You might as well have written "I don't like it". Please don't remove talkpage posts, or article text, without good explanations in the form of either edit summaries or talkpage posts. This is your only warning. Bishonen | tålk 20:28, 10 December 2021 (UTC).Reply

More like a threat than a warning. Gandalfett (talk) 09:54, 12 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
It's your only threat, then. You are welcome to take part in the ANI discussion if you wish. Bishonen | tålk 16:22, 13 December 2021 (UTC).Reply
Thank you for your invitation. Also, I do not appreciate your threat and will not be intimidated by it. Gandalfett (talk) 15:34, 17 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Page block

edit

I see you have returned to Chinese Singaporeans and removed this well-sourced text with no explanation. Such removals should always be explained, either in an edit summary or (preferably) on the talkpage. You have been blocked from the article Chinese Singaporeans for one week. Note that you can still edit the talkpage. I would recommend you to start a discussion there, and try to gain consensus for your preferred version. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Czechia

edit

You can find several years worth of discussions about renaming the Czech Republic article at Talk:Czech Republic and its archives. Thus far, consensus has been not to change it, and the body of the article follows suit, treating that as the primary name. Largoplazo (talk) 01:56, 19 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

You reverted me and another user several times at Dutch people without taking part in the talk page discussion that I started more than a month ago at your request. To avoid continuation of an edit war, please take part in that discussion. Thank you, Rsk6400 (talk) 06:28, 10 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Football infobox timestamp

edit

Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions were not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:24, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Name hatnotes

edit

Besides what has already been mentioned about there being no reason (and especially no good reason, but no reason at all) to avoid saying Catalan name, I also wanted to leave you a friendly message about excessive detail in hat-notes. A hat-note (any hat-note) is not article content, and so it shouldn't contain that level of detail; in the case of name hatnotes, their purpose is more or less to outline what name an article subject will be referred to by in the article, and make reference to languages and cultures for accuracy in the brief explanation as to why. If there's more context or explanation, that is article content and belongs there. Custom hat-notes are rarely used, and sometimes need more info, but in cases where it's custom only because a template will produce a factually incorrect note, that is not an indicator that more info needs adding. Please don't do so in future. If you feel your judgement on when such is warranted might need a second opinion, discussion first is always recommended. Kingsif (talk) 21:36, 26 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Kingsif, thank you for your reply. I will take note of your suggestion. Gandalfett (talk) 10:12, 28 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
