Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Garethbot", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it contains the suffix "-bot", which is generally reserved for authorized bot accounts. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. •Cyberwolf•talk? 13:10, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Garethbot, sorry if this process has a bit frustrating - could I ask what "hbot" means? I assume it's a name or something from a different language, but if we're going to unpack this issue it would be helpful to know more about why it's "Garet hbot" and not what most English speakers would parse as "Gareth bot". Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2024–25 National League, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page National League. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 07:55, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because your username, Garethbot, contains the suffix "-bot", which is generally reserved for authorized bot accounts. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.
Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.

Appeals: If your username is not in violation of Wikipedia's username policy, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Thank you. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:34, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Discussion

edit

Hello, Garethbot. Concerns have been raised that your username may be incompatible with policy. You can contribute to the discussion about it at the page for requests for comment on usernames. Alternatively, if you agree that your username may be problematic and are willing to change it, it is possible for you to keep your present contributions history under a new name. Simply request a new name at Wikipedia:Changing username following the guidelines on that page, rather than creating a whole new account. Thank you. •Cyberwolf•talk? 14:42, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
