Removal of page

edit

Hi Jamie

Am not sure if I'm editing the right page but I don't appear to be able to edit the main talk page.

Anyway, I noticed yesterday a link I placed on Proximity marketing was removed, I understand the reasons and will be careful in future with regards advertising etc.

However, I do not understand why a previous entry has been removed, also for the same reason.

The page in question was a description of an Accounting Software company

[1]

When creating the page, I was careful not to build it in such a way that it would be deemed commercial, so much so, I first viewed other pages about similar companies, which I got from the page:

Comparison of accounting software

I do not feel that the Arithmo page I created was in anyway different to many of the other pages that link from the above page, such as:

Access Accounting

24SevenOffice

Banana Accounting

I would like to recreate the page but if possible would like to know how the original article contravened any guidelines so as I do not create another entry only for it to be deleted again.

Regards, Dave

Wikipedia is not free advertising for companies/products that don't meet WP:CORP or WP:SOFTWARE notability standards. If you feel that the examples you mentioned don't meet those criteria, please feel free to nominate them for deletion. OhNoitsJamie Talk 15:03, 13 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Jamie, am not concerned with getting other pages deleted, more trying to understand how to get the Arithmo page reinstated. From reading the Notability Guidelines, in particular "An organization is generally considered notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources.", am I correct in thinking if I can include some external links to product reviews on for example, Accounting Web or MSN Money, then this will be sufficient to consider it noteworthy? Regards, Dave

does being nominated for software satisfaction awards not count as software notability? I was under the impression that I needed to include objective 3rd party links to prove it's notability

can I put it up if it wins?

The publication making the award isn't particularly notable, so no. OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:19, 15 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

is that because you've not heard of it? They are quite notable within the SaaS environment in the UK, I find this notability guideline becoming somewhat subjective!

As this would appear to be your "patch", I am now again curious as to what these entries have done to make them notable:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banana_Accounting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AME_Accounting_Software http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CODA_(company)

any explanation would be greatly appreciated x
