I note that the article you asked about at the Teahouse today has been accepted and you have added it to the template. Have you thought of doing a did you know? to go on the mainpage in relation to that article? It can be fun to create these and they serve as a way to encourage a lot of readers to look at your work. Ping me here if you want to submit a DYK but have any problems with doing so. Regards. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:10, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I would like to nominate the article for a DYK, but I'm not sure I can phrase it perfectly on my own. Personally I was thinking something along the lines of "Did you know Thrasybulus of Miletus tricked the Lydian king Alyattes into believing his city was thriving with a party, and so ended the siege of Miletus and a twelve year war?" My phrasing isn't fantastic, but I believe this anecdote is the most interesting from the article. How can I improve the DYK? Many thanks GeneralCraft65 (talk) 13:46, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well done! I noticed the DYK on the mainpage today and see it got the favoured final item in the listing, normally reserved for the most intriguing or humorous hook. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:07, 3 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Michael D. Turnbull Yes, I'm quite proud. Thanks for all your help! GeneralCraft65 (talk) 13:23, 7 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Lydian–Milesian War

edit

On 3 May 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Lydian–Milesian War, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that tyrant Thrasybulus of Miletus ended the 12-year Lydian–Milesian War with a fake party? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Lydian–Milesian War. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Lydian–Milesian War), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
