Welcome!
editHello, Gerardnico, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as DokuWiki, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.
Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

This way to communicate is really strange.
First, I didn't create the page. I just stumble on it while searching an answer to a question and was shocked that it was proposed for deletion. I'm also not an owner. I'm just a user.
Dokuwiki is used widely;
- it has more than 20000 installation (public)
- it's the second most popular search after media wiki (Google trends link just updated)
- it's in the first google page while searching for wiki software (I don't know the Domain Authority)
- it's open source and has 500 contributors / 3000 stars on Github without taking into account the plugins.
- and is here since 2004
I can read all what you send me but I still does not now what you need to prove the notability which seems to be the issue.
More link to external article ?
Thanks

- You have successfully declined the proposed deletion of DokuWiki. If someone still thinks it should be deleted, their next step would be WP:Articles for deletion, so you may wish to watch out for that.
- Notability is based less on the properties of the subject itself as on what sort of coverage is available in independent reliable sources talking about the subject. I know this concept may seem a bit strange, but we don't engage in original research or substitute our own notions of notability for what the community process has developed. None of the evidence you mentioned would be considered helpful for notability. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 20:31, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
- If the article has not been improved, I am very likely to take it to AfD, due to the aforementioned failure of apparent WP:Notability. As a related reading and additional food for thought, I'll also recommend checking WP:NSOFTWARE and WP:NWEB. And a quick and more direct answer to your question is that to show notability we need independent, reliable sources that discuss this concept (product) and are either in-depth or clearly call it significant or both. Reviews, awards, etc. will be quite useful as well. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:39, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
- Piotr If there is a lack of something, it means that there is less than a threshold. It should then be measurable. That's why I'm searching for it and I gave actionnable measurable feedback. As of today, I didn't get any measureable feedback or how to proceed to demonstrate it.
- I'll try again. 10 years ago, I have also searched on the internet towards Notability or what I would call, something that will stay for years. I have done it again today and have past the results in this Google Sheet.
- I have searched for the term Best Wiki Software
- Taken all reviews that I found
- Put them in a row with the rank order given
- You can see clearly that Dokuwiki is a well known and well ranked wiki just after wikimedia.
- It's not a CMS such as wordpress because it does not create blog and has therefore less popularity. It's a wiki based strictly on file without any database that is mostly used to create documentation on a wiki system.
- Is it what you are searching ?
- Dear Gerardnico, I am afraid I have no idea what that spreadsheet is supposed to prove, but IMHO it does not contribute much if anything to discussing the nobility of this software (see also WP:OR). As I am still concerned it fails GNG and therefore does not belong on Wikipedia, I've started a deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DokuWiki in which you are welcome to participate. I strongly suggest that if you wish to defend this article, you formulate your argument along the lines of "This article meets criteria A and B because...", referencing WP:GNG and WP:NSOFT. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:30, 16 August 2021 (UTC)
