Images

edit

Please stop uploading copyrighted images. According to Wikipedia's copyright policy, non-free promotional images can only be used to illustrate the article about that specific object (in your case that would be an article about one of Kalinauskas' medals) & when no free alternative is available. So unless you get the author's permission to licence his works under a free licence (such as Creative Commons) which would allow commercial re-use, all of the images you uploaded will be deleted. See also Wikipedia:FU#Unacceptable_use. Renata (talk) 18:06, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Gerb. Renata,

Renata (talk) 23:55, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Deja, as taisykliu nesukuriau... Siulau pasiskaityti WP:FU, ypac, kur duoda "unacceptable use" pavyzdzius. Renata (talk) 05:36, 21 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Battle of Kircholm.Authors - JK and LK.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Battle of Kircholm.Authors - JK and LK.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. The same applies to File:Battle of Saule-Siauliai. Author JK.jpg, File:Grand Duke of Lithuania Kestutis. Author JK and LK.jpg, File:Battle of Saule.Author JK and LK.jpg, File:Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas the Great.Author JK&LK.jpg and File:Queen of Lithuania Morta. Author- Juozas Kalinauskas.jpg. I should say that several other files, such as those of Mindaugus and Ketsutis, probably do not meet the criteria set out at Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. Since they are imagined representations they could readily be replaced by older free images. Angus McLellan (Talk) 14:49, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Sculptor medallist Juozas Kalinauskas + Themis.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Sculptor medallist Juozas Kalinauskas + Themis.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 14:09, 14 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Medal Signifying the Millennium Commemoration of the Name of Lithuania (1009–2009).jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Medal Signifying the Millennium Commemoration of the Name of Lithuania (1009–2009).jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 14:12, 14 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Sculptor medallist Juozas Kalinauskas + Themis.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Sculptor medallist Juozas Kalinauskas + Themis.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 14:01, 28 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Image problems

edit

Please stop stealing images from copyright websites and claiming them under fair-use or other freely licenced copyright which they have no right to. We take copyright status very seriously around here such edits are considered disruptive, especially when you repost images that were already deleted. You were warned about this before and your images have been deleted, so please stop. ww2censor (talk) 14:13, 28 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Trintalpyzdis"

I see that you have nothing to do in your life as to spend it browsing and editing others peoples pages... I put the photo under promotional license, you didn't like it, I put it under free license, you said I stole it... WHEN THE PICTURE WAS FROM MY WEBSITE!
How can I steal from myself? you didn't even bother to ask and did what your brain (or whats left of it) thought was right. (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:46, 28 December 2009 (UTC).Reply
Actually I do have many other things to, especially dealing with the copyright status of images. Do you realise how many images get uploaded every day whose copyright status is problematic? Between 50-100 every day. Regarding File:Sculptor medallist Juozas Kalinauskas + Themis.jpg, you never provided any information claiming that the first or more recent upload of this image was a photo taken by you. First you claimed it was a promotional photo but you failed to provide a fair-use rationale. However because Juozas Kalinauskas is still alive a fair-use image would fail WP:NFCC#1 because it is replaceable with a free image, which your was not and the second time you uploaded it you placed a PD licence on it. Changing the copyright to a free licence for a reuploaded image always looks suspicious. In each case the image was the same as this one on a website which clearly shows a copyright notice and nowhere does it show your name as we see it on wikipedia, therefore it looks like you stole a copyright image from the website. If you had stated that it was your website and that you were the same person, then it would not look like stealing and I would not have accaused you. I apologise for that. You would not want people to steal your images without permission but that's what the upload looked like. If you had said that we would probably have asked you to confirm the permission for use of the image under your PD claim, because it is found on a copyright website, by emailing your permission per WP:PERMISSIONS, an OTRS ticket would have been added to the image and that would have been that, unless someone else challenged your image for showing a sculpture when no freedom of panorama exists for sculptures in Lithuania. Because I deal with many images on most days I do not have time to discuss each problematic image with the uploading editor, I tagg the image with an informative notice instead. Some editors fix the problem, which you did not do, some don't bother fixing the copyright status and the images are deleted by an administrator, and some editors ask questions on my talk page and I try to help them clarify the copyright status. I notice that this image is also uplaoded to the Italian wiki and based on my information above I suggest you clarify the status of that image.
Your latest upload File:Sculptor Juozas Kalinauskas.jpg shows today as the date of the photo. Is that true? It looks more like a photo taken in the 1960s or 1970s, so you might want to correct that, unless it was indeed taken today. There in no intention to stop valid uploads and we appreciate editors sharing their images but we take copyright status very seriously which is why images are scrutinised and questioned if they look problematic. Hope that helps. ww2censor (talk) 04:55, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Juozas Kalinauskas

edit

You remove the unreferenced tag on Juozas Kalinauskas without adding any reliable sources to verify his notability. He certainly looks notable but we need to have some third party sources to support his notability. Please do not remove this until it is referenced. Thanks ww2censor (talk) 05:04, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Stop removing the "unreferenced tag" on the is article. It still has no reliable sources from any 3rd party. Self reference are not good enough to verify his notability. Please do not remove this until it is properly referenced. ww2censor (talk) 17:33, 1 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
It seem you don't understand what reliable 3rd party sources are. You made a link to the Wikipedia article Lithuanian Artists' Association but that is nor a reference. Add a link to the actual database page where this artist's information is listed on their website. The artist's own website is not a reliable source as it is a self-reference, but you can keep it in addition to other sources, you still really need other independent sources, such as national newspaper articles, scholarly articles or other museums where his work is noted. Get the idea? BTW, talkback is used to let an editor know there is a message somewhere else not on the page you drop the talkback on; it is not a signature or used instead of one. ww2censor (talk) 15:03, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Grand Duke of Lithuania Algirdas. Authors-JK&LK.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Grand Duke of Lithuania Algirdas. Authors-JK&LK.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
