Mwaala gwa Nashilongo

Mwaala gwa Nashilongo born on 13 march 1880 in Tsandi the district of Uukwaluudhi area in the Omusati region northern part ofNamibia in theOwambo land, is the eleventh Uukwaluudhi King, he became on power after his nephew Iita ya Nalitoke who died early in 1909.[1] He ruled from 1909 until when he died in 1959 and replaced by the current Uukwaluudhi King Hosea Shikongo Taapopi Shitaatala.He had fourteen wives (14) and he was the the only Uukwaluudhi king who hand twin brother even though customary,in Uukwaluudhi no twin could ascend to the throne due to their community belief that twins brings bad luck to their society.[2]
Leadership Career
editMwaala gwa Nashilongo played a major role in contributing to peace, stability and the restoration of human rights in the Uukwaluudhi area..[3] He also credited with the introduction of freedom and human rights to the Uukwaluudhi tribe, changing old customary practices of executing people accused of planning to overthrowing the king, and of killing potential male successors to the throne after birth.[4]
