Your user page
editPlease read WP:UPNOT and WP:UPYES about what you may and may not have on your user page, and in particular please consider removing the links to various websites. Thank you Melcous (talk) 13:39, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
Ah, thanks for the pointers. I initially established this page in an attempt to see if Wikipedia will play nicely with Microformats or other open web standards for identity. I hope the link to my own website is appropriate, I have removed all others. Gerwitz (talk) 15:42, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

editPlease do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Transit Driver Appreciation Day. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Alexf(talk) 21:24, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
Let's be clear: before User:Randykitty deleted my user page, the only external link was to my personal web page. Considering this inappropriate for a user profile page, especially because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute, is ridiculous and more closed platform than I ever imagined Wikipedia to be.
