Danish monasteries

edit

I see that you have added some articles on Danish monasteries. Keep up the good work - there are many to do! There are presently no guidelines on terminology for monasteries, and certainly not on monasteries in non-English-speaking countries, but I have done a lot of work on this area in the last three years and have arrived at some rules of thumb that seem to work fairly well most of the time, so please ask if in any doubt. Best wishes,HeartofaDog (talk) 12:59, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the questions, which I have done my best to answer here. Please don't hesitate to ask more if anything is unclear. HeartofaDog (talk) 23:01, 1 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Guldholm Abbey

edit

Hi,

I tidied up your new article a bit; I hope what I've done is useful. Any questions, do feel free to ask. Cheers! --  Chzz  ►  05:39, 1 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Børglum Abbey

edit

I have done quite a bit of work on your initial go at this article, mainly because there turned out to be difficulties with some of the articles it linked to, and it was better that they were all made consistent, which involved a lot of re-writing on the abbey article. I have also taken the liberty of adding some images from Commons.

By the way, I hope the notes on monasteries were of some help. When I wrote them I had assumed that you were Danish - but if you are a native English speaker please disregard any linguistic points that would not need to be given to someoone whose first language is English. Mariager Abbey

edit

Welcome to wikipedia. I removed the references that were on the Mariager Abbey because they were not specific enough to identify any of the sources cited. I wanted to make sure you knew we're thankful for your contribution, but also to ask you to take a look at WP:REF for more detailed style guidelines on how to cite sources. Rather than refering the the whole website da.wikipedia.org as a source, or the entirety of the catholic encyclopedia, a citation should have specific articles, links, or pages. For the meantime, I put {{unreferenced}} back on the article so other editors can see the article needs references and help by providing them. It's usually best not to remove a tag like {{unreferenced}} without adding proper references. Thank you again for your contributions. AubreyEllenShomo (talk) 07:17, 8 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Roskilde Abbey / Priory / Friary etc

edit

Don't worry, no harm done - I've fixed it, at least for now.

Thanks for the additions to the list , and for your articles, which are very useful. I hope you will do more - but do follow up the links in the Welcome section above to see in more detail how formatting, linking and (especially) sourcing are done! I'm always happy to try to answer any questions. Best wishes, HeartofaDog (talk) 14:53, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of "Sebber Abbey"

edit

A page you created, Sebber Abbey, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is very short and provides little or no context.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Wikipedia article conventions

edit

Hi. Would you take a look at the following:

These are simple things to do which would improve your articles (and would reduce the chances of their being speedied, as your latest one nearly was). Regards, HeartofaDog (talk) 17:06, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

St. Gertude's ....

edit

Good that you're still working on these articles! I can certainly see the difficulty over what exactly to call this one. You were right to move away from Abbey - no abbot. Monastery however also poses problems - no monks (because whoever the community were exactly, they apparently belonged to no order). Could I suggest either "Priory", if there is some historical precedent for it being called that, accurately or not, or - probably better - to get round the problem entirely, how about using its later name, St. Gertrude's Hospital? Holy Ghost Priory, Aalborg

edit

Hello again. The above article duplicated an already-existing one which had been there for a long time, under a rather different title. There can only be one article on a particular subject, so I've merged the content of your article into the existing one, now called Hospital of the Holy Ghost, Aalborg. This is in no way intended to imply any disrespect towards the article you created - where there are two of more or less the same length, it's usual to merge the newer one into the older one. I thought I should let you know about this, in case you wondered what had happened to the article you created.HeartofaDog (talk) 02:10, 14 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re: History of Maui

edit

Hi. As the primary contributor to History of Maui[1] I was wondering if you could help add sources to the article, or point me in the right direction. Viriditas (talk) 23:32, 10 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
