Clark Adams

What exacly do I need to do with the Clark Adams page? He was president of Internet Infidels and co-founder of Secular Coalition for America. That should be enough I believe, but if not, please tell me what I should do to keep the article. I created this article because I was looking for information about Adams myself. My first choice was to look for it at Wikipedia, but I didn't find an article there so I googled some and found information which I added. I think what is really missing is references. Thousands of articles about truly mundane people ("my girlfriend so-and-so is the best") are created on Wikipedia, and what they all have in common is that there is nothing published about them. So when editors see a biography with no references, they are automatically suspicious. Make sure you read these two pages: WP:V and WP:RS. Also read WP:BIO, which gives you information on what is generally accepted as notability (importance of the subject) for biographies. Then add references to the article to create a bibliography. It doesn't have to be long (one or two sources might be enough), but those sources should support everything the article says. At least, that is the ideal we strive for. For example, here is a short article I created that shows one way to list references. I do not edit biography articles very often, but you can get more help from the good folks at WikiProject Biography.

I know this all seems like a lot. My point with the "girlfriend" comment was not to say that Adams was on par with those articles; it was to show why some editors overreact to all biography articles, even the good ones. Now that your article is old enough not to show up on the list of new pages, it is probably much safer from such overreactions. This is a pretty rough introduction to Wikipedia for you, and I hope you are not discouraged from further editing; we always need more dedicated contributors. If I'm not mistaken, English Wikipedia is the biggest and fastest-growing of the Wikipedias. A high number of terrible articles are created every day, so new articles end up running a gauntlet here. Henry, speedy deletes can be undeleted by any administrator. I happen to know that this admin is at work and won't be able to undelete this article for at least 8 hours. As you've posted here twice in a short period of time I'm guessing that you want this to be done before this admin gets to a computer. In that case, you might want to contact WP:ANI and ask somebody there to undelete it for you. But do not be surprised if the article is immediately nominated for deletion (Such is the case when an article is speedly deleted and then contested.) It will be up to you to add sufficeint support that the article meets verifiability and notability criteria.Balloonman 16:29, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

The proper forum for undeletions is actually Wikipedia:Deletion Review, not ANI. They probably would have sent HenryLi to me first as a courtesy. Please note that the article was deleted according to the speedy deletion policy, under criterion Article#7, in that it made no claim at all to notability. Deletion discussions are usually reserved for cases where there is a claim to notability that is disputed. However, I restored the page for now to allow a chance to make a claim to notability. I didn't notice that both users had (very obviously) violated the 3 revert rule - I'll warn both of them about it. However, on re-reading the deleted text, I did just see that the person SCETV is allegedly in a dispute with appears to be a living person, so your argument that it was a BLP violation may apply after all (my mistake). Guyz Nite Source

Hey Ginkgo 100! I was looking for Guyz Nite on Wikipedia today and I saw that the article had been deleted. When I looked at the delete log, it seemed like the band was eliglible to be listed, but there was no clear, official source to validate their connection with Live Free or Die Hard. I looked on the official film website http://www.livefreeordiehard.com/index_site.html and viewed the TV spots. The first spot has the Guyz Nite song in it. I think you've already seen the NY Times article about them, but I can tell that the connection is for real.

I'm somewhat new to Wikipedia, so I wasn't sure if the best way to get the article back up was to write it myself, contact you, or contact the original poster. Anyway, you seemed like the best way to start. I just wanted to make sure you have this information!

How to get the box of current women heads of state into the English woman article

I looked at the French site for woman & it has a box of current women heads of state. I tried to cut and paste it into the English article, but in the edit box it appears in template form, with Two{'s atthefront and Two}'s attheend of a template.

I am not sure exactly what you are asking for help with, but if you want the text of the French template, it is here. You can copy this and paste it into a new template here on English Wikipedia. Be sure to give credit in your edit summary to the source in order to comply with the GFDL. Fear of children and childbirth

There is a correlating evidence in some literature that suggests that the fear of children affects the public's perceptions of pregnancy rights, particularly in the U.S. A book called Somebody Else's Children: The Courts, the Kids, and the Struggle to Save America's Troubled Families by John Hubner and Jill Wolfson discusses this; however, I don't feel their case is supported enough to actually cite them in your article. As an alternative I added the see also section. I apologize ahead of time for launching into a large diatribe on your talk page. Please delete it after you read it if you wish. Manson 0015 (talk · contribs) had been warned multiple times by multiple wikipedia users in regards to creating inappropriate pages as far back as May 2007. I tagged the article twice in one day to be speedily deleted and warned them both times before asking that they be blocked (although after looking at the initial warning, it doesn't stand out and appears to be a part of the speedy deletion template. oops, heh). Knowingly creating articles that are inappropriate after being asked not to four times seems to be vandalism. I could have been a bit more verbose in asking that they read the four large wikipedia speedy deletion templates, two of which had been there for three to four months. I suppose that it was too much to assume that the orange box that says "new messages" was actually clicked, but it seemed obvious that the user was checking messages because they responded to the last warning. I'm normally good about not biting the newbies (I consider myself a newbie after all). In this case the user was, I had to assume, knowingly creating (and recreating immediately after being deleted) inappropriate pages with complete disregard to being asked not to. How should I have handled it? (and I ask that question sincerely) BURNyA 19:36, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I think the only problem here is that you told the user he was vandalizing Wikipedia using {{uw-vandalism4}}, which only confused him because he was probably re-creating that article in good faith. I think using {{uw-create3}} would have been perfectly appropriate. After the misunderstanding happened, ideally you could have explained a little more thoroughly. When dealing with vandals, we often assume bad faith, which is understandable because most vandals are bad faith users, but it's important to keep an eye out for the occasional user who might just be ignorant (or slow-learning) and assume good faith first. No real harm done, but if you haven't already, you might want to bookmark Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace like I have. --Ginkgo100^talk 22:18, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

About the block of 24.185.136.255 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) - can you consider putting that back at a week? If you look at [2], he does the same things every day, and has done so for weeks now. I've yet to see him do it under any other IP address - he just seems to wait out each one and continue again. So, seeing that he uses the same IP for weeks to do the same vandalism, I think that a day is not enough (in fact it is just about the period that he puts in between each revert anyway), and that putting it back at a week or even a longer time should save us from further trouble.
