Montevarchi

edit

Sure Giorgio. I'll correct your English if that is necessary. Although I have translated some articles from Italian into English form it:wikipedia, I don't speak Italian (although I can read it fairly easily being a classical singer) and have to use a dictionary or on-line translator to help me. If I am unable to decipher something, I would appreciate it if I could call on you for assistance. Mike Hayes (talk) 20:06, 21 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello Giorgio

edit

I'll try to translate it today, the Arabic used in this documents (both the inscription and the language) seems to be from Morocco, and since that I'm from Syria It is not easy anyway to decode them, but I'll try to do. KFZI310 (talk) 04:50, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello I tried hard to decode this document which is written in an old Arabic variety from Libya, Anyway I’ll explain you the outcome,

on the top of the document above the black seal in the middle there is a verse from a poem saying He who dares the seas it is a glory for him ***** the one in his life with eminence then there is two very common-occurring religious prayer in official documents saying the praise is only for good (Allah) no one Immortal but Allah then comes the main subject of this document, which is something like: We grant -under the supremacy and the power of Allah- the boon companion of our honourable prestige The admiral, Monsieur (Po*** Racli) , the first chef of the Italian squadron, we grant him the second rank of our Alawid medal of honour . So let him wears it with so much proud and to consider it as a witness to what he had of consideration and respect in our honourable prestige. ****, Libya, 18 Rabia 1312 (Hijri).

at the bottom of this document there is also another verse saying

if you wanted ***** from the people ****our glorious medal of honour

Notice that stars **** stands for words that I couldn't understand neither my friend -who is Arabic professor- did.

Admiral Ernesto Burzagli

edit

Hi, I'm Giorgio the italian developer of Montevarchi related edits (in italian wikipedia and here when I can) and I help also the Burzagli family to publish on Wikipedia and Commons the entire archive of Burzagli's. The admiral was born in Modena because his father Vincenzo was professor of phisics at the Royal Military Accademy but his family, and Vincenzo too, are from Montevarchi were the admiral family had, and have, the family house and where, on Moncioni's hills, they own a villa and a farm. In the next days Emiliano Burzagli, Ernesto's grandson, will upload all the materal related to Vincenzo we found recently. In Montevarchi he married Mannozzi Torini Laura but when he married her he was already retired and even his family doesn't know anything about his early life. They thought, before starting our research, that the admiral family was simply from Modena. For many reasons they didn't want to investigate in Ernesto's past. In fact all his archive was buried in various boxes in a cellar for decades. We started opening it just last summer. And only in the past days we found the document demonstrating that the Burzaglis were from Montevarchi. Anyway we found on the admiral papers pictures of a Peruan woman that was writing intensively to him. And some others. Could you share with us the information you have? I'll warn even Emiliano about what you have. May be we can reconstruct something. Thanks--giorgiomonteforti (talk) 19:59, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's tough to say for sure, as these are family photos and it can be difficult to discern family stories as 100% true or 99% true. The story goes that my great-grandfather's sister, Joséphine Bossi (from around Milano), married an Admiral in the Italian Navy. I'd always heard the name as Admiral "Bordzali", but two generations of Americanisation can contort any name. Burzagli is very similar sounding to Bordzali, hence I suspected that may be the right person; and the timeframe is correct. I understand that we have some items in a museum in the suburbs of Roma which reflect the relationship between the Bossi and Bordzali/Burzagli families -- I hope to return in 2009 to try and track down the info first-hand. If you have any specific questions which may assist you, I could ask my Aunt -- she has been handling issues with the museum and knows more about the relationship between the two families. Grazie e спасибо! --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 20:33, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Carlo Burzagli

edit

Hi man, I think you will be interested in this picture: [1]. It's the gravestone of Carlo. We are still tracking down the location of the Josephine's one. Could you please share your family pictures you have because we are working to write in italian and english the biography of Carlo and we would like to collect as much material as possible. Thanks.--giorgiomonteforti (talk) 14:40, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, the only photo I have at the moment is one of only Josephine. I am hoping to get a couple more boxes of photos from my aunt over the holidays, but I'm not sure how many photos we have of Admiral Burzagli and Josephine. I recall seeing at least one at some point, so hopefully I will be able to track that down. --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 02:34, 25 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I don't know if you have looked at Admiral Burzagli's discussion page [2] but it seems that Josephine aka Giuseppina was married to Carlo Burzagli not to Ernesto.--giorgiomonteforti (talk) 14:05, 25 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ahh yes, I had forgotten to check that discussion page. The family story goes that she married an admiral, but of course: those types of stories can become less truthful with every new generation. Over the holidays, I will see what additional info I can track down. Are you aware of the sources which state she married Carlo rather than Ernesto? That may help iron out discrepancies when I get a chance to speak with my aunt. --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 21:51, 25 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
