Gladiators

edit

Hi Gladboy, thanks for the message. The Gladiators page was reduced greatly after some debate on the talkpage, owing to the fact that all of the information you've replaced is unsourced and not particularly noteworthy. Please consider reverting your changes as you've gone against concensus and as I don't want to break 3RR I'm happy to bring in some arbitration to get the best article possible Docta247 19:04, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I really don't think the page should be kept the way you've left it. Long lists such as the ones you've inserted are discouraged in the Wikipedia list guidelines and none of the information you've inserted is sourced, which is very important to improve the quality of the article. I agree your version has more information, but in this case that's not what's important when it comes to an article of relatively small notability. The article should provide clear and concise information for people looking for information on the television series, certainly not an exhaustive list of contenders, winners, gladiators per series and unreadable, over-exhaustive material. I won't break 3RR but I will keep reverting as you've gone against the concensus established on the talk page, which I'd recommend having a look over. Keep editing; it's great to have the discussion to work towards the best article we can do. Docta247 19:47, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't watch in on Challenge. It used to be something of a family event when I was a kid  :-). Please consider changing it back because I will do so myself in line with the concensus established. Have a good night! Docta247 20:16, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm worried that you've misunderstood here. We don't have to agree on this or come to some kind of equitable solution because you're choosing to ignore the rules and policies of Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:WikiProject_Laundromat and understand that if you continue to ignore the former I will seek to have the article locked and you might be blocked for ignoring the rules. I seriously don't want it to come to that, so please return the article to its former state and use the talk page to discuss major changes you want to make. Docta247 11:50, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you feel there is a legitimate reason for removing this information, please explain your actions in the edit summary so that other editors do not mistake them for vandalism. Moonriddengirl 21:41, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm not entirely sure what you're asking me. :) Gladiators is not on my regular patrol. The edits that you're making may well be legitimate, but if you don't explain why you're cutting so much text out in the edit summary, which is the box that appears before you save the changes, people on vandal patrol see the big red numbers and presume you don't have a good reason. If you've discussed these changes on Talk:Gladiators and there is consensus that the text should be removed, go ahead and cut it. Just put something like "see discussion page" as your explanation, and the folk on vandal patrol probably won't be so alarmed. If I'm not clear, please let me know, and I'll try to explain myself better. Moonriddengirl 21:51, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello, sorry it's me again. I think this is straightened out so please feel free to make the edits you feel would improve the main article, but add an edit summary in the box just below! Have a good night! Docta247 21:56, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gladiators pages

edit

Hi - can you please sort out the mess you've made of these pages?

  • None of the articles show sufficient context - if I was a reader that clicked on one of these pages, I wouldn't know what it was on about. You need a paragraph at the start of each of them to explain - for instance "Season Five of [[Gladiators]] took place in 1996 at ...." and so on.
  • The titles of the articles need to be better - "The ashes 1" for example, doesn't mean anything - it needs to be "The ashes 1 (Gladiators episode)" or similar.
  • There are quite a few spelling and grammar errors - I've fixed most of the ones in the titles, but you need to check the articles thoroughly.
  • None of the pages are linked from the main Gladiators page, so how is anyone ever meant to find them?
  • Most importantly, I don't think any of these articles are noteworthy enough to have their own articles at all.

Please sort this out, or I'll have to revert the changes you've made. ELIMINATORJR TALK 11:48, 30 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dale's Supermarket Sweep

edit

Just because there is more information in an article doesn't make it better. The sentences like "Then there was the Mini Sweep in this the contestent had to answer a question then if the question was correct they had to get a item with a yellow sticker on saying Mini Sweep" and "Were contestents had there last chance to get time on there clocks for the Big Sweep if they got a question correct they changed a the other contestent had there turn" are completely unreadable, and even if they had correct spelling and grammar, they wouldn't mean anything to a casual reader. It's the same with the list of bonuses, and so on. Please think about someone who doesn't know anything about the show, and tries to read the article. ELIMINATORJR TALK 00:25, 31 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I see you reverted the tidying I did of this page. Please explain on its talk page why you think your version is better. As your version stands it is fragmented, confusing, has many spelling errors, does not explain what the programme is or how it works and has incorrect, unreferenced facts. I have kept a lot of the information you previously added, thanks for that. But if you have anything further to add please add it to the current version. --Escape Orbit 21:04, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thanks for resolving things with this page. You just have to remember that Wikipedia is a co-operative effort where everyone contributes. You put some good info on the page, it just needed tidied and referenced. I'm not sure what's up with the image, I didn't do any of those changes. It seems to have got confused with a Wheel Of Fortune image. Did you upload both? Are you sure you got them named correctly? --Escape Orbit 22:29, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gladboy, could you please stop reverting everyone's edits on Dale's Supermarket Sweep. You keep changing the infobox image, adding images which are no longer on WikiPedia, added the talkbackTHAMES website address, when there is absolutely no need for it, and plenty of un-needed words and lines.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Glads dangerzone1.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Glads dangerzone1.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Fair use rationale for Image:Image:Blinddatetypicalscreenshot.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Image:Blinddatetypicalscreenshot.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Thanks for uploading Image:Blockbusters.jpeg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Blockbusters.jpg. This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. Article for Speedy Deletion

edit

A tag has been placed on Cbbc On Choice, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

This info should be included in the article BBC Choice - it is not notable in itself.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TheIslander 21:52, 15 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove

edit

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. Hi there. I'm not sure if you're totally aware of it here, but you're being massively disruptive right now. You've been uploading a large amount of images which, not only are they unsuitable for Wikipedia due to copyright issues, but are also unlicensed. A number of editors have tried to contact you about it but you either ignore their comments or remove them from your talk page.

If you persist along these lines, I will be forced to block your account for a short while for disruption. Please stop what you're doing here and let's talk about it - Alison 13:16, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gladboy, it's really not a great idea to remove pictures that a bot (or in fact an editor) has picked up as a copyright violation. Like Alison and myself have stated, unfortunatly that could lead to a ban :(. It's possibly best to steer clear of adding images altogether until you're crystal clear on the copyright laws, fair-use, rationales etc. Cheers, TheIslander 14:27, 16 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Gladiators logo.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Gladiators logo.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:26, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Gladiators season 1

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Gladiators season 1, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Gladiators season 1. Cbbc Choice

edit

The article Cbbc Choice has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 11:44, 27 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi mate, Sorry about putting the youtube links on the Bernard's Watch page. Would you be interested in improving the Bernards Watch coverage on wikipedia? I started List of Bernard's Watch episodes but need to add episode summaries, which you might be able to help with. Cheers. 03md 23:11, 11 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Gladiators logo.JPG)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Gladiators logo.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 15:49, 31 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
