You're probably not going to like my answer, but I've said it already elsewhere. The fact that we are "deciding" (i.e point-of-viewing) which colors to use on retired players should disqualify such decorations from use. Colors should only be on active players, and maybe on Hall of Famers but only if it coincides with the cap they chose, which makes it redundant in any case. The only place where it's objective is on active players, which by definition are only on one team. Baseball Bugs 19:23, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- The player himself decides which cap to wear on the Hall of Fame plaque. Otherwise, the only "safe" way to go with colors for retired multi-team players' is to not use them. Baseball Bugs 19:26, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- Someone simply added those colors to the MLB retired box and no one seriously challenged it. That's what I call "implied consensus". I've raised the issue on the project page and no one really seems to care about it. So one way to get their attention would (or could) be to simply drop those parameters from the mlb retired template and see who complains. That's what Tecmo used to call "being bold" and what I call "brute force" or "in your face" editing. But it's easy to get the previous version back if someone yelps, thanks to wiki's seemingly bottomless version-retention system. Baseball Bugs 00:20, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
