Fair use rationale for Image:Cyberstorm command screen.png
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cyberstorm command screen.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Cyberstorm command screen.png
editThanks for uploading Image:Cyberstorm command screen.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:31, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair Use Rationale
editAs this is the first wiki page I've ever added a picture to, I've had a little difficulty with the fair use rationale. I understand the need to prevent breech of copyright. What I don't understand so well is why this image has been picked up twice and yet the other image on the article MissionForce:_CyberStorm was not.
It would appear that the two deletion attempts were by an automated process. I would request that if a human is reading this page, think again before deleting the image.
- Would the game's creators have added a "Print Screen" feature if they didn't want you to use it?
- Would the game's publishers object to an image of the game appearing in a fairly positive article on the internet?
- Is the image in any way reducing the publisher's ability to make revenue from the game?
- Is it ironic that Internet bots created by Humans to patrol Wikipedia are interfering with an article about a game where Humans are fighting for survival against Robots created by Humans to serve as their minions but that ultimately revolt and attempt to destroy their creators?
That last question is rhetorical. Of course, if proved correct, I'll be hunted down and killed by a wayward wikibot.
Anyway, I'd better go. My computer is making scarey noises....GordonTG 23:39, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Image:Cyberstorm_HERC.png
editI have tagged Image:Cyberstorm_HERC.png as a disputed use of non-free media, because there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please clarify your fair use rationale on the image description page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 22:58, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
