Speedy deletion nomination of Goldstein, Hill & West Architects

A tag has been placed on Goldstein, Hill & West Architects requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about it should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you can assert the notability of the subject, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

Speedy deletion nomination of Goldstein, Hill and West Architects
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Goldstein, Hill and West Architects, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Karl 334 ☞TALK to ME ☜ 13:30, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

editPlease do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Goldstein, Hill and West Architects. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. In addition, the text appeared to be a copyright infringement. See http://ghwarchitects.com/Company.html. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:36, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

editHello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 14:43, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
References
editIt is not required by Wikipedia's policies that references should be available on line, but when the only two for an article are 'subscriber only' access after the first two paragraphs it is difficult to assess the notability of an article. I deleted a version a few days ago that contained no references at all, but I don't think the situation is much improved. Can you find references that we can actually see? We need to see proof of coverage. Those articles might help - or they might be reviews of the hotel in question in one and whatever the other one is about with a bare mention of the architects. Remember that Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia and not a directory. We need evidence for notability, not just for existence. Peridon (talk) 19:17, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Hi Peridon-
Thank you for the description of deletion. I apologize, I thought that these were live links. I would love for you to see these articles so please let me know if I would be able to send you the clips. Explain to me also why an architecture firm such as Costas Kondylis is allowed to have a page but GHWA is not? The information is basically the same - just a description of the firm and their projects. I would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks so much, Greatink (talk) 19:23, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
As reviewing administrator, I looked at the article after the 2nd speedy nomination, and I think it clearly does assert notability, though it does not yet prove it. Actually, I think the previous speedy deletion was in error, because even that version did assert notability, and that is all that is necessary But the article is unlikely to be kept unless you improve it further. The easiest way to deal with material not readily available is to quote the key sentence or two. (not mail it to an admin--that doesn't help readers) What you need is a reference for each of the buildings--the building web sites are not sufficient. Unless it is totally obvious that the buildings are notable--which is not the case for most apartment buildings--the references need to specifically say they are, or that the firm or its principals are. (Silver Towers has a WP article, and is probably notable, so that one is OK. Check the refs. there to see if any of them can be used here--that might do it. What would be most helpful is if they've won an award for any of the work--if you can demonstrate it, it'll be fine. I advise you to fix the problem, and do this very quickly, before the article gets nominated for deletion by a regular deletion process, which will certainly happen if not improved. DGG ( talk ) 22:50, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
DGG-
Thank you so much. We are trying to improve upon this as quickly as possible. Many of the buildings are new but I will search for notable aspects of each building. What types of building references will you need? Is the page still functioning or will I have to re-create it? Thanks
Greatink (talk) 12:49, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
DGG ( talk ) I have made some modifications- please let me know what you think. thanks Greatink (talk) 13:59, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
DGG Peridon (talk) Thank you for your help with my wikipedia page. I will continue to make modifications in order to get the page up and running.
1. The page was considered a copyright infringement with promotional language - I changed the wording to a brief, non-promotional description of the NY architecture firm. 2. I added two WSJ articles as references. You had stated that they were subscriber only and therefore usless. - We are working on taking a quote from each article to post on the page. 3. Notabilty of buildings. There are about six buildings posted on the site, with Silver towers by Silverstein Properties being the only one with its own Wiki page. You had asked me to list notable aspects of the other buildings. What type of information are you looking for?
Are there any other pointers you could give me? It is very important that I get this article to remain.
Thanks, Greatink

editIf you are wondering why your user page is blank, it's because I moved it to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Greatink This is the correct location for articles for creation submissions and your work has not been lost. Thank you Puffin Lets talk! 16:11, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Thank you Puffin Lets talk! , although I looked and it was there, refreshed the page and it appears that it has been deleted? Greatink (talk) 16:16, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, it was a complicated move because it moved the submission under the title of your username and not the page name you wanted. It should all be correct now. You can find it at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Goldstein, Hill and West Architects. Puffin Lets talk! 16:19, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your grading. I see that there are c-class articles which have been posted on wikipedia. If I were to post this page on wikipedia as an actual article, would it be allowed to stay up? Thanks!Greatink (talk) 18:03, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- The above message from Island Monkey is automated. But to reply: it's actually already in the mainspace. In other words, it's public and has been moved as part of the AfC process. Whether it stays there or not still depends on how good you were able to prove notability. Each user has the same editing rights and are subject to the same policies as anyone else. Wikipedia does not have an 'editorial board' hence no single user can decide if any article gets to stay or not. It all depends on consensus and on how much it violates or follows policies. I wouldn't worry too much though. Just note that like any other article on Wikipedia, you (or anyone else) may still edit it even if it's 'live'. So if you think it can still be improved, please do. Cheers. -- Obsidi♠nSoul 19:49, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi (talk), thank you for letting me know. The image, etc is not permanant yet, I am having trouble getting all of the infobox items correct. Sometimes they do not show up, while other times they do. Sometimes the image shows up, other times it shows up with the file name above it. The image is credited to the company, but have permission by them to use it. What type of license would I enter for that? thank you (talk)

Hi DPL bot (talk) - thanks for letting me know. I went to change it (I probably should have written American Institute of Architects instead) but it seems that all of the content added yesterday is gone. Is there a reason for that? thanks! 50.74.249.90 (talk) 13:42, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

Thank you.
A tag has been placed on Whitehall Interiors NYC, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an acceptable page. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this page is not blatant advertising, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You are welcome to edit the page to fix this problem, but please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. As well as removing promotional phrasing, it helps to add factual encyclopaedic information to the page, and add citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the page will be verifiable. - Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
{{unblock|Your reason here}}
below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Diannaa (talk) 23:00, 8 April 2015 (UTC)The file File:WhitehallNYCLOGO.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Orphaned image, no context to determine possible future encyclopedic use.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --TheImaCow (talk) 19:15, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
