Community discussion on harassment reporting
editThere are many current proposals as part of the 2015 Inspire Campaign related to harassment management. I’ve created a page, Meta:Grants:IdeaLab/Community discussion on harassment reporting meant to serve as a central space where the various stakeholders in these proposals and other community members can discuss which methods might serve our community best so that we can unify our ideas into collective action. I encourage you to join the conversation and contribute your ideas! OR drohowa (talk) 02:20, 22 April 2015 (UTC)
Multiple similar bad revamps of language articles
editHi Gretchen. Could you look at the WP:LANG talk page, and tell us if the multiple bad revamps of language articles, all from single-purpose accounts, have anything to do with the latest editathon? Thanks — kwami (talk) 23:44, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
- Replied in full on WP:LANG. Short version is no, as far as I can tell. I haven't been running an editathon recently and I don't tell my newbie editors to edit like this. --Gretchenmcc (talk) 00:05, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

editHello! I took some inspiration from your page while updating my own bio - thanks!

- Aww, thanks Loztron, looks great! Btw, you've got an extra space at the beginning of a line, that's what's making your WikiProject Linguistics thing show up as code instead of a nice box! --Gretchenmcc (talk) 19:22, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

Workshop
editSaw the link about your upcoming workshop in Fairbanks and was curious. As summer is time to pursue paying work in Alaska, I dunno what chance I would have in taking part, though. However, I occasionally browse the Inupiat wiki. I find it totally bizarre that it would have an article on Ronald Reagan, all the while I've yet to find an article there on a notable Inupiat person, so hopefully your efforts will be of help there and anywhere else. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 08:23, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hi RadioKAOS, and sorry for the delay replying - I've been travelling and haven't had much internet time. That's super weird that the Inupiat Wikipedia would have an article on Reagan and none about notable Inupiat people, but I guess someone just decided to make one...is there a list anywhere of notable Inupiat people who don't have articles? It'll depend on the interests of the people at the workshop, of course, but that definitely sounds like an area that could use improvement and thanks for bringing it to my attention! --Gretchenmcc (talk) 00:01, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the Thanks!
editThanks for the The Tireless Contributor Barnstar! You’re the one who encouraged me to take the plunge into Wiki editing, via the LSA Editathon. So the credit it all yours! LingLass (talk) 20:06, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
editHello, Gretchenmcc. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
Can you assist?
editHey! I've made a page for a famous female linguist that you might be able to contribute to. Would you check it out? Andrea L. Berez-Kroeker. Thanks!! --TheLeaper (talk) 18:52, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
- It looks like it's in pretty good condition already! Would be nice to add a photo and infobox whenever someone's at a conference with her, but for now I've just moved the stub tag to the end per normal formatting conventions and added WikiProject tags to the talk page. --Gretchenmcc (talk) 20:11, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
example
editI'm not sure it's a good example to create BLP articles with extremely minimal sourcing--in some cases, just an non-ndependent source that does not actually meet the GNG guideline, though it does indicate the existence of references that might do so. I'm sure you intend to develop articles like Rochelle Adonis further, but had I not checked that you were an experienced editor, I would have considered listing it for deletion. When I find I need to stop at a point like this--and it does happen to me also-- I add a tag {{under construction}} DGG ( talk ) 22:14, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
Nomination of Rochelle Adonis for deletion
editA discussion is taking place as to whether the article Rochelle Adonis is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rochelle Adonis until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. DGG ( talk ) 05:36, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Event coordinator user group
editHi Gretchen,
I saw on the schedule for the Annual meeting that you're organizing another edit-a-thon this year and you should request the event coordinator user right. That permission will give you the ability to create more than 6 accounts in one day and allow you to grant confirmed status to new accounts so that they can create articles, upload images, edit semi-protected pages, et cetera, without having to wait 4 days. You can get it by following the instructions at request for permissions and there is information on how to use it at the policy page on the right.
This is a change from the last time you ran it, the community decided to not allow new users to create articles, and in order to allow events, this usergroup was created. It's not difficult to get, you just need to show you're running an event, and it can make the event go much smoother. Excited to attend, and if you have any trouble with the permission, let me know on my talk page. Wugapodes [thɑk] [ˈkan.ˌʧɹɪbz] 03:29, 31 December 2018 (UTC)
