WikiProject Mixed martial arts

Ever thought of joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed martial arts? I noticed you have lots of MMA related edits. We are now taking suggestions for the new MMA article improvement drive, please add your input to decide what the first collaboration should be. VegaDark 22:20, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

I probably should get around to joining at some point. I don't think I have the time right now to contribute much to the article improvement drive, but I keep my eye on several MMA-related articles for vandalism, nonsense, etc. I'll probably throw my name in the members section. Tuckdogg 01:09, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
I'll second that, your contributions show you've made a lot of positive edits to MMA-related articles. Keep up the good work! east.718 12:49, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Looks interesting! I may have to check that out...Tuckdogg 11:38, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Arbitrary revision reverting

If you are going to reverse a revision that has been researched and well crafted, be consistent across the board. Compare content with other similar entries which are considered acceptable, then rethink your actions. Read the Muhammed Ali, Fedor Emelianenko, Chuck Liddell biographies for examples of what is considered relevant information, particularly regarding fight descriptions. Make changes to all of those wiki entries if you feel that your standards should be universally accepted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Acesfull11 (talkcontribs)

Please see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. I'm sure Tuckdogg will get around to cleaning up those articles too. east.718 at 20:17, September 25, 2007
East718 is correct, at least as to the Liddell/Fedor pages. Chuck hasn't been on my watchlist, but I think I should add him.Tuckdogg 23:52, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
I've copied the MMA portion of my watchlist to my sandbox for your use... just visit [1] and paste at the bottom... there's probably a few leftovers from other topics though. east.718 at 00:41, September 26, 2007
Holy friggin' crap, dude! Suddenly my watchlist doesn't look so insanely large!Tuckdogg 01:30, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Tim Sylvia's Page

I was the one reverting edits to Tim Sylvia's page. As one person pointed out, putting his website info about autographs could be seen as advertisement so it's best to keep that out, but as for the rest of it I still think it should be put back on the page. The info I reverted it to seems to be general consensus among anyone who is not blind. As it stands, leaving that specific information out would seem like a POV edit by someone who is a Tim Sylvia fan. What's your reasoning for removing that info then threatening me with a ban (which someone else already did)? Cyrus777 04:16, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

UFC 79

The Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva fight was set for UFC 79 on December 29 and will be played on DirecTV as per various articles and their own website. That is confirmation tha fight is happening. What your are looking for is an offcial annoucement from UFC or the fighters. Wikipedia ia here to share information. While I agree with you that rumors and speculation should not be on here, big news like a cable company announcing it will carry the fight is something worth sharing on wikipedia and is validated information with references to back it. There is nothing in wikipedia that says we need an offcial annoucement from UFC to list the fight and post on on the UFC 79 page. All we need is confirmed verification that the fight is taking place and we have that with the DirecTV article. If you are waiting for UFC to offcially annouce the fight then why are there 4 or 5 fights listed on the UFC 79 page? The only fight officially annouced by UFC for December 29th is Matt Serra vs. Matt Hughes. I don't know why you are being so strict on here that you want to keep confirmed and reference articles out of the pages that will be read by fans. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.176.157.157 (talk) 01:32, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

As per the topic started on the UFC 79 talk page...umm, yeah, that's exactly what I'm looking for. The standard for including a fight is an official announcement from the promotion. If there is none, then a statement from one or more of the fighters confirming that the fight is officially signed will do. Barring one of those, there is no official fight. If the fight is not official, it is rumored. If it is rumored, it doesn't belong on the wiki page. Period.Tuckdogg 02:45, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Well then why don't you delete all the other fights that are included on that listing? The only fight that has been confirmed by UFC itself is Matt Serra vs. Matt Hughes. All the other information about the match ups from UFC 79 where brought from 2nd hand websites that have nothing to do with the UFC company itself reporting the fight will happen. Why does my information about Liddel and Silva get deleted when at least the DirecTV people have something to do with the UFC and they said the fight will happen. How do 2nd hand websites have more credibility then DirecTV saying it will carry a fight? You come check all this stuff and basically have no standards for what you are taking out and leaving in. You take out valid information saying it's not official but leave other information that has not been officially announced either? If your gonna make moves like taking out big news that has a reference and valid information (which I believe is vandalism)then at least do it evenly so there is consistency on what is on the page. You can't have many different pieces of information with similar references backing them and then go and pick and choose which ones end up on the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.176.157.157 (talk) 02:54, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Check the edit history on the UFC 79 page. Myself (and others) have been editing the crap out of it, keeping unofficial fights off of the page for weeks. Those fights are on there because they are now officially signed, and the reference articles confirm it. Kongo/Nogueria was announced by the Fight Network, and confirmed as signed by both camps. Clementi confirmed that Joe Silva told him his fight was officially on the card, so that's good.
All the reference articles say reflect that those fights are officially confirmed from official sources, either the fighters themselves or from the UFC. The reference articles for Silva/Liddell say nothing of the sort. They mention that a graphic was posted on the DirecTV website, and then was taken down. They are then "SPECULATING" (<--- note the magic word) on what exactly that means. Speculation == not official == no fight yet. The expectation is that the fight is on, and will be announced at UFC 77. Until that happens, there's no way of knowing whether the fight is signed or is still just in negotiations. Remember, this is the same fight that Dana announced with Silva & Chuck in the cage, and it still hasn't happened yet.Tuckdogg 03:11, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

How is the fight network putting up a paragraph about the Kengo vs Nog fight taking place at UFC 79 any different then MMA weekley posting a graphic directly from the DirecTV website saying that the Liddell fight is taking place at UFC 79? One was confirmed by the fight network, one was confirmed by DirecTV. Neither has been announced by the fighter or by the UFC. If your criteria is the UFC or fighter annoucement then 80 percent of the fights listed must come down. If your criteria is that a site confirms it, then it can all stay up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.176.157.157 (talk) 03:15, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Because both camps have confirmed Nog/Kongo, and the Fight Network is a reliable source that announced the fight as officially signed. The MMA Weekly article never says the fight is signed, nor has either fighter's camp announced it, nor has the UFC. DirecTV also did not confirm the fight. They posted the picture, then they took it down almost immediately. What does that mean? I haven't a clue. Probably either that they weren't supposed to announced it that early (because Dana wants to save the announcement for UFC 77), or because Dana told them to yank it down because the contracts haven't been signed yet and he doesn't want to get hopes up based on the previous history of making this fight. I'd guess it's likely the former, but my guess isn't a reliable source.
And since at least one fighter involved in each of the listed fights has confirmed that the fight is signed, sealed, and delivered for UFC 79, that's considered reliable enough for it to be listed. No need to drop any of the fights, except the one glaring exception that's never been confirmed by any the promoter or a fighter involved. Any guesses as to which fight that is?Tuckdogg 03:32, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Oh wow, looked what happened with the Nog/Kongo fight. It's not happening. Guess my statement was correct that if Liddell vs. Silva was not allowed to be post then the other fights should not be posted because none wedre confirmed by the UFC. You either post all fights that are annouced by scources outside the UFC or post none of them. You can't just post some. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.176.157.157 (talk) 22:35, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

UFC

Before you go back and try to say Randy Cotoure is not UFC Heavyweight champ you need to go to the UFC's website http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.TitleHolders&cid=3. It does not list the title as vacant. It lists Randy Cotoure as champ. So unless you can provide a proper citation more reliable than the UFC itself. Do not change it.Aladdin Zane 23:43, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Responded on user's talk page.Tuckdogg 23:49, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Because even though there are certain things going on around Randy right now and his retirement again. They still lists him as champ and are leaving the title with him until Dana has had a chance to speak with him. which has not happened as of yet. So there is nothing wrong with leaving it as is until the talks are over.Aladdin Zane 23:51, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Randy supposedly faxed in a resignation. No talks have happened as of this time because Randy is in South Africa filming a movie. So they are leaving the title in his name until talks are over. Because a resignation has to be accepted for it to be inforced. As of this time it still has not been accepted until Dana has a chance to speak with randyAladdin Zane 23:57, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

So to keep edit wars from happening while they are waiting for talks to happen. There is no harm in leaving the page as is until the UFC officialy declares the title vacant.Aladdin Zane 23:59, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Response on user's talk page.Tuckdogg 00:02, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

It is "alledgedly" because anyone can fax anyone anything saying it was from Randy. Also Dana said he received the resignation paper. He did NOT say the UFC ACCEPTED the resignation letter. There is a big difference. So unless you have something from the UFC stating they have accepted it and the title is vacant. It should stay as it is until the UFC declares it vacant. Which as of current time and date they havent, and the website is updated several tiumes daily. So best to leave it be until the officially announce the title is vacant to prevent edit wars.Aladdin Zane 00:06, 19 October 2007 (UTC

I'm finished with this conversation.Tuckdogg 00:18, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Also depending on the contract he had with the UFC they can decline his resignation. Because As with any contracted employee. For instance when I was a contracted employee I could only resign with a 3 month notice. If I tried to immediately resign I had to pay them a huge sum of money. Aladdin Zane 00:22, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey Tuckdogg, I'm sure you're familiar with the "wigger" vandal that's been attacking Phil Baroni, Pete Sell, Matt Serra, and other articles. Could you please go through the histories of these articles and get me a list of usernames and diffs that have vandalized? I'm planning on grabbing someone with CheckUser permissions on IRC and putting an end to this. Thanks, east.718 at 18:58, 11/3/2007

Re: Unreleased Britney Spears Material

I didn't vandalize the page 'Unreleased Britney Spears Material.' In fact, I wrote that entire page myself, and I know anyone can update it and that's fine, but the user Thankssir repeatedely changes dates even though they are sourced and then reports me for changing the dates back to the correct ones. I'm just trying to make the article accurate, and I put a lot of time into it considering I wrote the entire thing. Please don't think I'm vandalizing the page, if anyone is, it's Thankssir - this user has been warned about their vandalism on other Britney Spears articles also. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.44.12.3 (talk) 03:56, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Anderson Silva Bio

I don't know where you got your information regarding the ryo chonan/anderson silva fight. You complain that my view of the fight is biased(that anderson was dominating, until he got caught with a flashy scissors takedown into a heel hook), but the view you put up is EQUALLY biased, saying Ryo Chonan was dominating. Hypocrisy aside, have you seen the fight? Anderson was peppering him with shots at will, busting up his face. He was dominating the standup, until the heel hook. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jhthree (talkcontribs) 03:35, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

UFC_22 undo (Kohler KO note)

Please explain or point me to a page that explains the reason not to include my note about this extraordinary knockout in article about UFC22. I believe it should be included for the same reasons such fights trivia are included in articles related to more recent UFC events.

It took me quite a while to track the fight that contained this knockout - as I wrote in the article, it was included in UFC intro for several years; at least as early as UFC31 up to fifty-something when they replaced the highlights-intro with the gladiator one. I believe this short note could help others save the time I needed to find it out.

Not sure how to source this info in any other way than watching any of the forementioned shows' intros.

RE: IP block

The way I interpret Wikipedia:Talk_page_guidelines#User_talk_pages is that everyone, IP's and registered users alike, can blank their own talk page. Although I don't personally agree with it, it is a guideline. IP's do have "User Talk" pages and not "IP talk" pages. I had previously blocked that IP for a week, but the IP hadn't done anything enough (policy wise) to justify a block. --Michael Greiner 16:22, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

UFC 83

None of what i put on the page iscrystalballing. I have sited my reference as sherdog and the article it has posted. Matt Serra even announced it himself. Being the welterweight champion i doubt he would be wrong.

I do respect that you are obviously another UfC and only want accurate information but for all you know or i know it is fact. So far im up to 2 refences on my page and 3 counting matt serra. Sherdog is by far the most accurate refence any UFC poster could site after all espn wouldnt team up with liars for mma info. Why not keep the page up for a while and see what happens. If theres a change i will be happy to make it but why delete a page just based on speculation of specualtion. Also according to wiki deletion policy a page that can be improved or edited for accurate info should be tagged and not nominated for deltion. UFC 83 is on my watchlist and I will make sure that any change needed will be made. Please find a reason for deletion because crystalballing is not one and according to wiki deletion rules again none of the deletion requirements are met.And not to be a dick but you have been wrong before. Response on user's talk page. Gromlakh (talk) 02:12, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Being that the UFC rarely tries 2 events so close together UFC 83 will more than likely take place and be the only UFC event to take place in April. Also since all champions have fought and the interim heavyweight championship match will have already been crowned i could not see another event to tkae place in April. I also said on the page UFC 83 is expected to take place April 19th. That date can change and it will in turn be changed on the page. Being that Sherdog has said that the fight will be in Montreal than it will probably be held in Montreal. Once again your specualtion of "crystalballing" is not valid. The page can be changed and we both know that UFC 83 will happen. So why delete a page of a future event when we both know that it will happen. IF it turns out that the main event is changed i will change it.

I put in two different websites where i got the information from and your telling me i didn't have any sources? And what i said was no more of a rumor than that is up on the page at the moment. But i suppose your always right aren't you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.3.115.221 (talk) 04:21, 11 January 2008 (UTC) --Chode747 (talk) 02:27, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

OK

I have just found out that as of December 20th UFC 83 was set to take place in London England and feature Mike Bisping in his first middleweight fight.[[3]]. I have backed up Serra GSP for UFC 84 but you'll probably try to delete it even though deep down you know that no ppv could take place between March 9 and April 19. It seems odd that 82 and 83 may take place within a week of each other but look back to 69 and 70 which were only 2 weeks apart. It was actually mma mania that siad 83 not Sherdog but do you really think they would put a fight night in England.--Chode747 (talk) 03:27, 6 January 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chode747 (talkcontribs) 03:22, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! >Akiyama was also accused of wearing slippery gear by former world and Olympic champion Kenzo Nakamura when they fought at the world championship trials last April.

This is the FACT and written on Taipei News, too. http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/sport/archives/2003/09/16/2003068113

>After changing his gi, he lost two games in a row (semifinal and 3rd-place match)and missed the medal.

Just a simple FACT that you can confirm on WJC Official site. http://lightning.bold.co.jp/world-judo.com/flash/fights_index.html

>At this moment, Akiyama answered to questions about the oil in the interview as follows:

>"I HAVE NO IDEA why Sakuraba felt slippery. IT MAY BE MY SWEAT. I sweat a lot always and it dripps off my body."

This is the REAL COMMENT that Akiyama said at the press conference on 2007/1/1. http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/fight/k1/column/200701/at00011924.html (Written in Japanese)

Please just STOP HIDING THE FACTS.

You got that?

About your reply

Tukdog, Your reply makes no sence.

>violation of Wikipedia's policy on having a neutral point of view

1.All three opponents claimed that Akiyama had a slippery judogi.
2.Akiyama was also accused of wearing slippery gear by former world and Olympic champion Kenzo Nakamura when they fought at the world championship trials last April.
3.After changing his gi, he lost two games in a row (semifinal and 3rd-place match) and missed the medal.

All these are just perfect facts and nothing biased. They are written in very neutral manner. (Especially, 2. is what exactly written in news paper and it is true.)

Look.

Fact is the fact.

Fact is not someone's opinion.

Fact does not have a "point of view", but just neutral.

>poorly written, with RANDOM USE of aLL CAPs lettering

"Using caps " can NOT be an excuse to delete facts. If you don't like it, you can change it to lower cases.

>WITH NO RHYME

"Rhyme" can NOT be an excuse to delete facts. I'm not trying to create a poem, son.

You got that?

You are deleting the facts with no proper reson but just because you don't like it.

Also, to expand on what I said on my talk page. The rule of thumb I use for CSD is to ask myself: "Is there anything about this article that I can forsee someone would have an issue with me deleting arbitrarily?" That seems pretty cut and try, but think of the large number of... ahem.... unique people that contribute to the project. It is far better to take a few days to delete an article and know that it is airtight, rather than CSD and article and watch it turn into a debate whether or not the article should have been deleted. AfD:Wikit

This is from the ex-author of the recently deleted Wikit page, Ax3l lX (talk) 20:02, 19 January 2008 (UTC). In the case of failing memory, Wikit is a Wikipedia based game that relies on the use of links to come to a desired article in a specific number of turns. I completely understand your approach to its deletion, it would appear, as J Milburn noted, to be "a non notable game made up in school one day;" however, I feel that the game does have a viable foothold in American high school and college circles. It is understood that I took the wrong approach to posting it, especially in the claim of when and where it was invented (at the time I was perhaps, as Uncle G noted, 'Yet another group of schoolchildren [that] have thought that they invented this game and have come to Wikipedia to write up their claim to fame.') It is completely true that I did not invent the game, nor as Metropolitan90 showed, do I have even the smallest claim to that title.

However, I feel as if the page maintained by Metropolitan90 is in itself proof of the game's widespread acceptance and use. Perhaps in its current state, Wikit is missing a key component for indoctrination as a true game, but it must be shown that Soccer was not always "the most popular sport in the world", nor has Baseball always been "known as America's pastime." A game comes from the bottom and works its way to the top. Furthermore, Uncle G noted that Google search returned no results; however, this is not entirely true. There are numerous hits under "wikipedia game" from various wikipedia enthusiasts who play the nameless game with their friends. These include many blogs and forums were players post topics and then compete against numerous adversaries across the country, and indeed, the whole world. This link might explain it better: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=108654 .

I completely understand your angle, and actually, i completely agree with the deletion of my article. It was biased, and a selfish act. However, I am not writing this post to complain, nor actually, to even dispute the deletion. I feel as if Wikit, or however the game should be named, is worthy of an article on Wikipedia. I feel as if Metropolitan90's list of 20+ previous Wikit articles and the various worldwide blogs associated to the continuation of the game, defends its right to a single page which would link the whole community of players together. And now I come to my point.

As the two main contenders to its existence, Uncle G and J Milburn, I come not to dispute your claim, but rather, to ask for your help. The unnamed game requires a place where players from all over can come together; users should be able to examine other players methods and techniques, post house variations, and collectively decide on a name for the game. What better place for this than the very core of the game itself? In this quest I realize that I need some experienced help; being that you two found my article and posted it for deletion astonishingly quickly, I was hoping that either of you, or both, could direct me on a path that would render the article undeletable, due to its validity and correctness. There has to be a way to insure the article's survival, so that current and future gamers will be able to band together under their comman pastime.

If, however, you see my plight as a ridiculous waste of time, I thank you for yours. otherwise, I will await your consensus. Thank you both! Ax3l lX (talk) 20:02, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

But wordreference.com is a sort of dictionary. It's an activ dictionary for transaltors. I had problems with this meaning of "angel", 'cause I've found in a comic book this instruction from an airport control: "maintain heading one zero zero and climb to angels sixty". Nowhere I've found the answer and an English mother-tongue answered to me that words. I think that in technical language may mean this. We can ask to wikipedian in order to understand the solution. Could you wait for an answer? Probably it's British English, or Army slang (I've found so much Army slang in that comic book). Absolutely who's talking in the comic book is talking English anf not French or other. Thank you. --Locaracle (talk) 23:16, 21 January 2008 (UTC) I've read now your last message. Do you think is a sufficient source for Wikitionary? What have I to do if someone contest to me my issue?

Hi. You reverted an edit made by somebody under my name, but the issue is, I was out all day. Either it was somebody stealing my ID, or maybe somebody else worked on a computer that I may have worked from in the past. Re: Hoaxes and CSD

Unfortunately, hoaxes are specifically exempt as CSD reasons. Under Non-criteria: "If even remotely plausible, a suspected hoax article should be subjected to further scrutiny in a wider forum." While rediculous and patently nonsensical hoaxes may be speedy deleted as vandalism, this one does not appear to be outrageous (for example, it does not say "Streetboxing was taught to humans by alien hunters bent on defeating their enemies, the giant pink squirels".) Even if a non-notable martial art, to the point where even Google can't find anything on it, if its not obvious gibberish, it should go through AFD. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 01:49, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Nice, I see you didn't really read those sources carefully hmmm?

Well, it's pretty apparent to me that you don't read the sources, as many cite Dana White as being the one to CONFIRM Arlovski appearing at UFC 82. Furthermore, a 'TBA' opponent (which we all know is Jake O'Brien) seems to be the best way to let everyone know that Wikipedia is ahead of the game on these match ups. But whatever, you've decided you're going to be a dick about it and really matters little to me. So, happy dominating with an iron fist! "He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Edmonton Investors Group Ltd. I will be reposting the criminal history of Sean Sherk

Upon receiving a verification e-mail from wikipedia.com staff, confirming that my adding Sean Sherk's criminal history report was NOT against wikipedia policy, I will be reposting my edit. I will be making changes, in order to make it sound less incriminating, and to avoid further attempts to withhold the information for the public.

In no way, shape, or form, do I have anything personally against Sean Sherk. I believe he's an amazing athlete deserving of recognition. I, very coincidentally, stumbled upon his criminal history, and because I was shocked at what I found, felt that I should not be the only person who knows this information.

I believe Sean Sherk is a formidable opponent in the octagon, deserving of recognition, but I also now know that Sherk has a prison record. In no way does this information lessen my view or perception of Sherk. Like I said before, I having nothing against Sean Sherk in any way, and have nothing to gain by posting the information. But I believe that it is information that should not be blatantly hidden from the public eye. In the great state of Minnesota, access to criminal history, to the public, is legal, not to mention free.

Like I said, I will be editing my previous post, including in it references to all things needed to be referenced, and providing verification of Sherks criminal history.

Yeah, editcount was my concern as well (not that I was concerned about it, but rather that I was concerned the RFA would fail because of it) - that's why I suggested another month or two of consistent editing. At that point, I think it seems fairly likely. But, with a 1/13 try (sorry, I should have looked before I asked), we probably want to wait until March or April. Much sooner than that makes people nervous... - Philippe | Talk 01:29, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Confession: I have just used my shiny new rollback tool on you when I shouldn't, as I'm sure you didn't intend vandalism: you removed a db-rediruser tag I had put on the redirect page that was left behind after I userfied a biographical page the guy had written about himself. From Rise to Ruin

well, you should explain to me why they can't have a page...

since they meet the criteria for bands..and they are a popular band

there is enough information for this page

why does it have to be deleted?

is it because they are not signed to a record label??

how would you know if they are not a notable band? go to their myspace (myspace.com/fromrisetoruin) if you need proof :)

i was just using their myspace to prove that they are popular

Demonstrate on the page (using reliable sources, not MySpace pages or press releases) how the band satisfies WP:MUSIC and the page will get past the speedy deletion stage.

From Rise to Ruin HAS MET Criteria for musicians and ensembles:

7. Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or of the local scene of a city:

 (HARDINSBURG,KY - HENDERSON,KY - EVANSVILLE,IN)

9. Has won or placed in a major music competition.

(BATTLE OF THE BANDS at Club 1123 EVANSVILLE, IN)

Maybe you can help me, I was trying to update a page I started last Aug/sept 2007. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Enchanted_Gardens%2C_Jamaica The page looks like it may be nuked as it is not notible. The main reason I came to Wiki looking for info on the Enchanted Gardens, was due to the fact that there is little info to be found on the resort anywhere else. I just returned from a visit there last week and was able to obtain a lot of information and picture evidence as a result. I would find it a shame if the page were to be deleted. Can you suggest how I can go about keeping the web page up if there are no official sources other than the occasional newspaper article?Chrisandlaurie (talk) 00:43, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

UFC 84

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article UFC 84, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Arlovski's Record

Alright man, you really need to get over yourself. I decided not to respond about the O'Brien incident because I realized I didn't include that CBS Sports article as one of my citations even though I meant to. My fault. Whatever. BUT NOW you have deemed that the UFC, the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The employer of Arlovski and the creator of the various events is not reliable? Do you have some sort of precedent for this? I'm guessing that since it is listed on Arlovski's site it is unreliable also? I'm really at a loss here with what you deem to be true and what you don't, I'd really like to know since when you have the ability to discredit a professional business organization? Sherdog is listed on his page and we know that that fight record is unreliable so I think if you are going to overturn the legitimacy of updating his record you should remove all links to that site as well, as it states that Arlovski is 11-5 and not even 12-5 as the Wikipedia (which is apparently inaccurate thanks to you) article states. I would just like to know what the rules are within your great judgment on things that you deem credible and what you deem not? Do you have some tie to Sherdog that would allow them to get away with blatant inaccuracies while stating that UFC is NOT RELIABLE for fighter records? It would seem to me that the biggest professional MMA organization in the United States might have one up on you there. Here's Arlovski's site as a second source: http://www.arlovski.tv/#fights —Preceding unsigned comment added by ShadowOfLight (talkcontribs) 20:11, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Arlovski's Record pt. 2

Kindly look at his website once more, it states: NO NAME (fighter), Refusal to fight (method of winning), M-1 MFC European Championship 2000 (Event) 4/09/00 (Date). Elusive 13th fight: right there. I'm well aware of the John Dixon fight as I was the first one to try and add it to his record, it of course got deleted despite my having provided his website as a source...again I can only assume there is some sort of bias going on if it was in fact you that had deleted it then, if not, then then this is not applicable in this instance. Also, at this time I added the "NO NAME" fight and it was also deleted, it wasn't until later that John Dixon reappeared, which I thought was funny. Again: Sherdog, I don't fully understand your idea of legitimacy. They list Arlovski as 11-5, when Wikipedia itself says he has 12-5? One of these is wrong. If a website has a fallacy such as this, does it not lose a bit of credibility? Yet it is still a link? Furthermore, Tim Sylvia is incorrectly listed as having 26 victories. This is a direct contradiction to the point you have been trying to make as Sylvia is listed as having 26 wins on UFC.com but on Wikipedia and Sherdog and even his own website it is listed as being only 24 victories. However, this has gone "uncorrected" for sometime and I'm almost positive you must have cleaned up or monitored that page at various points between now and whenever it was posted as such...again, this only leads me to believe that you are exhibiting some sort of bias (I'm not sure if that constitutes an insult because it's not meant to be that way, it may be offensive but I believe I have provided ample evidence to support such a hypothesis). I'm really not sure if I'm going to be blocked because in my last post on your Talk page the only thing I see that was "uncivil" was my statement you need to get over yourself...this can obviously be interpreted in a number of ways, but I was speaking of a possible biased you were/are displaying. Which I have now reiterated here, so if I am to be blocked: so be it. This is a point that needed to be addressed in my disagreement with you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ShadowOfLight (talkcontribs) 22:27, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Karo Parisyan Article

Alright, here's the deal. There were no inline citations for the record, and I noticed that it conflicted with the record published by the UFC. I chagned it and cited it as such. After I changed it I noticed that there is some controversy on the issue. As the consensus seems to be that www.UFC.TV is unreliable, I agree other sources should be used. However, please provide both citions (Sherdog and Full Contact Fighter) with the record so others will review the sources before changing the record, reducing the number of good faith, but poorly sourced edits.

As for the possible copy vio, what your analysis is very possible. It looks like there are several Karo websites out there and who's to say if one is official, a fansite, or something else... Thanks. Iepeulas (talk) 18:16, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Frank Mir's Height

His MySpace profile says 6'3. So there you have at least one source. Also, 190cm = 6'3 so what you have currently put makes Wikipedia look stupid. But to hell with "sources". I've personally checked out his videos on YouTube and elsewhere. He is as tall as Brandon Vera & Brock Lesnar (both listed at 6'3) and I could not notice any difference between him and John McCarthy who was the referee at his match against Wes Sims. I've also been a "spectator" in a forum thread where they agreed that his listed height in many sites is wrong. All other sites take the info from only a couple of "elite" sites (like Sherdog) so I'm not surprised that his height is listed at 6'1 almost everywhere. I've changed Tank Abbott's height from 5'10 to 6'0 and a long time ago Rocco Siffredi's height from 5'10 to 6'3 (which could even be 6'4 in reality) and Mandingo's (porn star) height from 6'0 (self-claimed) to 5'8 (verified from his movie Mandingo 5). I verify height sources myself when they are contradictory or not convincing. You might want to correct my "vandalism" there too.

It looks to me like we have common ideals about Wikipedia. In respect for your work I'm not changing his height back to 6'3. If you found my reply convincing then change the height yourself. If you need proof you can watch any video of his fights. If you don't care then you don't care. No big deal for me either way. Its sad that I've wasted my time doing some research to provide people with correct information and I'm being called a "vandal". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Outsid3r (talkcontribs) 19:26, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
