Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Hola! Thanks for the welcome, just running around now and familiarizing myself, usually just adding stuff to the comics pages. Hopefully I'll graduate to much more serious topics in a bit. --Grumpyhan 07:15, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I was young inexperienced and unaware, sorry about that. I have rectified the article, thanks for pointing it out. In fact what was happening was that several editors were making edits to do nothing but change the name there to their own, so I was planning to remove it anyway. However, excuses aside, I totally empathise with this obvious ethic.--alfakim 19:05, 28 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

If the other user is willing to go through mediation, that should be a good option. If not, and the user also doesn't want to negotiate, you might well have to go to arbitration. Just make sure you back up what you say with diffs as evidence. Mgm|(talk) 12:57, Jun 5, 2005 (UTC)

All right. Thanks for the help! -- Grumpyhan 13:20, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Talking / Funny animal talk pages

edit

I have reverted your last edits to these pages and restored the discussions you archived previously. Please don't archive current discussions. Archiving should only be done when a talk page gets too big to be practical, and then only the oldest discussions should be moved to the archive. --Conti| 15:36, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

I see why you wanted to archive the sections, but it is IMHO still not a very good way to deal with such a situation. If you don't want to read your personal attacks, don't make them. If you did, moving them to archives where no one will ever look is not a good idea. It is quite a current discussion you archived, and users will be a bit confused about what happened until they find the archive. Why don't you just apologize and ask for an apology from the other party in return if you think the discussion was a bit too harsh? That's just my opinion of course. And yup, I was wrong with the category tags, sorry for that. --Conti| 11:23, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

I think you are confusing my intention of archiving them - it wasn't because I "did not want to read my personal attacks", it's because those personal attacks are so off-topic and non-wikipedia-centric that I decided removing them to an archive is a better solution (than removing them outright). If you notice, I did agree to halt the arguments whatsoever. I took the recent silence from said party (after I agreed to Prangton's request to stop the argument, "I am game") as agreement and thus archived them, placing a less judgemental note (my original note, which would be a lot less confusing for visiting users, only incensed the other party enough to make more ludricious personal attacks).

The reasoning behind this is also because the drama on both pages are stupid and overly prolonged - archiving them was my idea of stopping the arguments. -- Grumpyhan 17:21, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Longmanwilmington.jpg

edit

This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Longmanwilmington.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. cohesiontalk 07:23, 22 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of Catbus

edit

I have nominated Catbus, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Catbus. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Guy (Help!) 10:09, 1 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Tomstrong.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Tomstrong.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page.
